Hard to find replacements for older Skill 524 jigsaw. These blades worked and fit perfectly. Made in Switzerland, yea! The quality is evident.

I declare up front that I have not yet used any of these blades, but I felt compelled to post at least something right away. I have a Craftsman 315.17280 scroll(er)/saber/jigsaw from 1977 and can confirm that these blades DO FIT, with the set screw lining up perfectly. I’ve rebuilt the saw with new bearings for the motor and all new grease in the gear box. I didn’t even think about the blade shank differences with today’s saws, and was a bit concerned when I couldn’t find any “universal” blades with the hole for the set screw in the local brick and mortar stores. I suspect that these Milwaukee blades from Amazon will perform just fine, and sincerely hope that any of the other big tool makers decides to release this style blade again. These older saws are just too good to be left behind because we can’t find blades! For those of you who aren’t sure if these will fit your old jigsaw, I’ve attached some pics with the shank next to a ruler. Looks like the center of the set screw hole is at 3mm and 10mm, and the hole diameter is maybe 4.5mm?

Black & Decker doesn't even make replacement blades that fit my old jig saw. These fit perfectly. Plus, they are Swiss =-made blades and good quality.

I have a Milwaukee jig saw that is almost 30 years old and still going strong. It is not the refined tool that the newer ones are that used the now standard T shaped blades, but for some work it is still a better choice, such as cutting cement board underlayment or backer board for tile work. When cutting that stuff, you go through a blade after only 2-3 feet of sawing, so you need a good supply. The Milwaukee blades seem to be slightly more durable than the brands you will find in the big box stores, so that's why they get my vote. But alas, finding any blades for these older saws, while not yet difficult, the pickings are getting slimmer all the time. I suspect that in another ten years they will all be gone, even if the saws are still running great.
