The paper towel holder was easy to put together. It is simple and does the job. I wanted something simple and functional, so this works as expected. It looks more polished than just setting the paper towels on the counter.

There is no weight to this holder to keep the plastic bottom from sliding on the surface when you pull a towel off the roll. When tearing off a paper towel, you need to hold onto the paper towel roll or the plastic base of the unit to keep it from moving. So, you’ll be using two hands to dispense one paper towel. Think about the times your hands are wet, dirty or holding something else and you want a towel.I had wanted to use this for paper towels in our craft room; but I usually want to grasp a towel and tear it from the roll with only one hand like I do with the holder in our kitchen so this one won’t work there (see photo comparison to our heavy kitchen paper towel holder that holds the towel tightly in place and this paper towel holder).However, since the spindle on this paper towel holder has a very small diameter, my husband and I decided to use it for a roll of plastic bags that we use for scooping cat boxes. The plastic bag roll has a very small center hole and this roll of bags works well with this holder.Note that the plastic base looks like it could scratch the surface that it is on; so we have added a non-slip mat, that we cut to fit the size of the base, under the plastic base so it won’t scratch the wooden surface where this holder now resides. Adding this gripping mat also helps hold it in place a little better.Overall, this holder works okay for use with our plastic bags but I need something sturdier, heavier and easier to use with one hand for paper towels; so I’m giving it only 3 stars.
