I tested this out with a 1/4 inch thick piece of hard maple. It did cut the piece although with some burn marks on the cut but the motor didn't bog down one bit. The motor seems strong and with a better blade, it would have done very well. There's not good visibility on the cut so it would take some getting use to to cut on a line. For cuts that don't require great accuracy and you need the portabilty, it would be fine.It takes two tools to change the blade but it wasn't difficult to do. The depth selection is just a plastic slider but it worked OK. The guard is spring loaded so it keeps the blade from being exposed until you're actually pressing it down on the work-piece. It comes with a tube that connects just behind the blade. I haven't tried it yet but there is at least an attempt to support dust collection (although the diameter of the tube is very small). The case is nice and it's easy to put the tool in it along with the accessories.Overall, the tool seems to be well built and the motor is definitely not wimpy.

I'm deducting one star purely due to the problems I had with the manual. For one thing, the information you need to assemble it and make adjustments is separated in various sections. The illustration showing you what the various parts are is at the beginning. The list that tells you the name of each part is pages later, and the instructions telling you to use this part to remove that part is pages after that. So you wind up leafing back and forth through the manual trying to figure out what to do.Also, the manual wasn't checked very carefully. In the section that instructs you how to change a blade, it says, "Unscrew the depth adjuster". I went back to the list to find out what that is. There is no "depth adjuster" in the list. There is no "adjuster" of any kind. There is a "depth indicator", but the illustration is very dark and I couldn't figure out what it was pointing to.I was about to simply give up, but I had an idea and looked through Amazon for other similar tools. I found this exact same tool under a different brand name. Among their photographs was a VERY helpful video showing how to change the blade. It's actually fairly simple once you see how it's done.Once finally assembled, I was able to give it a test. That's when I ran into the biggest issue, and the other two-star deduction. The ON switch is thumb-controlled. It's on the left side, so if you're left handed, you're really out of luck. But when the slide switch is moved forward, before the saw turns on, it gets to some sort of resistance. I was unable to turn it on one-handed. I had to hold the saw stationary with my left hand while turning it on with the right. This is a non-starter for me, because I'm going to be holding the material to be cut with the left hand.So I'm going to donate it to the Salvation Army and maybe someone there will find some worth to it.FWIW, it comes with a decent hard shell case, and it includes a handy built-in bolt and wing nut for holding spare blades. A nice feature.

This Mini Circular Saw is a powerful and compact tool designed for precision cutting across multiple materials, including drywall, tile, metal, and wood. Despite its small size, the 400W motor great cutting power, making it a great choice especially for plunge cutting of drywall for outlet and switches. The six included blades gives you versatility, ensuring clean cuts on many different surfaces. The saw's lightweight design improves maneuverability, and the included toolbox keeps everything organized. The corded design means you will not run out of power.Bottom Line: This Mini Circular Saw Set is a versatile, portable, and efficient tool for precise cutting in small to medium projects, such as plunge cutting for switches and outlets. It's portability and lack of safety also makes the tool more dangerous, so extra precautions should be taken when using it. Always be mindful of the blade's location. Apart from this, the tool is quite flexible and I recommend it.

Compact and powerful corded mini saw. With 400w of power packed into this compact package there’s not much it can not accomplish. As I stated this is a corded tool, I’m not a big fan of corded tools but they do have their place, sure beats running for a battery when you’re trying to get something done. Thanks to its small footprint this is perfect for tight places. Adjustable footplate locks at angle selected tightly and stays put. Gives nice clean cuts in a variety of materials. Great for plunge cuts in sheeting or similar materials. Comes with a selection of blades, useless instructions and all packed in a hard storage case. Its light weight makes it a breeze to handle. Only issue I noticed was that the slide to turn it on is quite stiff resulting in some effort to engage the motor. Generous length of cord is a big plus.
