Note that because the cable exits towards the rack ears it will not interfere with anything plugged into port #1.

This cable is a serial cable to be used with devices that must be directly connected to a computer serial port, infrared & GPS devices for example.This particular mini-USB serial cable is a rare find on the marketplace.It's common to find serial-to-USB adapters on Amazon, but this kind of cable is almost non-existent elsewhere.I had a GPS device that refused to connect to my computer with a normal USB cable (unknown device error).It wasn't a real USB device, although it used a mini-USB connector.This cable combined for one of the many serial-to-USB adapters on the marketplace allowed the GPS device to work, and I could finally connect a GPS utility to a COM port on Windows where the serial adapter is.This could work with routers too, basically anything that uses a direct serial connection.
