This thermostat is designed as a direct-fit replacement for your aged factory unit. The Mishimoto thermostat has lower activation temperatures (189A Degree F/196A Degree F) compared to the factory thermostat (194A Degree F/201A Degree F). The lower activation temperatures allow coolant to flow through the engine earlier, which reduces and maintains lower engine temperatures. This thermostat is ideal for use in warmer climates or under extreme towing/driving conditions. I bought and installed this cause mishimoto products have been good to me in the past. but after about 12000 miles of use i started experiencing a very hot running diesel. Not thinking this part failed i visited all other parts. in the end after months of trial and error turns out the thermostat no longer opened more thin 1/16" at full temp(220). Went back to a ford product and no issues. so be careful you could burn up your truck on your next camping trip thinking you have quality parts.

Very happy with this part. I was concerned with my higher coolant & oil temps pulling 20’ Cargo trailer and normal driving in the mtns I’m Colorado. Seeing much lower temperatures across the board. Easy to install and packaging was first class.
