Your cart is empty.The Mazda RX-8 is well known for its high-revving rotary engine and well-balanced chassis. An overheating engine can result in a ruined track day or a damaged engine. A Mishimoto racing thermostat is the ideal upgrade for improved cooling reliability and efficiency. Mishimoto racing thermostats promote greater cooling efficiency by significantly decreasing high engine temperatures. Once the engine is fully warmed up, the Mishimoto low-temperature racing thermostat will open at a lower temperature (169 degree Fahrenheit) compared to standard thermostats (180 degree Fahrenheit). This allows coolant to flow through the engine sooner, thus reducing and maintaining cooler engine temperatures. This thermostat includes the Mishimoto lifetime warranty.

I am running atkins oil cooler bypass pellets, autobahn 88 and g-plus full silicone hose kit, tbolt clamps all around, and this mishimoto "racing" thermostat. However, my car is running too cold when ambient temperatures are below 50 degrees farenheit. It will range at about 150f-165f and will throw a check engine code "insufficient coolant temp for stable operation".I even put some diy metal plates infront of the oil coolers and my coolant temps will barely reach 170-180 when crusing at highway speeds. This would be ideal at the track and it will stay at 200-208 at idle but will take a while to get there. I built my engine so i know compression is decent, all the coolant seals are new, and my fans are working great. I also use 20w50 oil which seemed to keep it a few degrees cooler as opposed to running 5w20. I do not recommed using 5w20 as it will cause accelerated bearing wear. T-stat install was easy while engine was out. All mishimoto products come in a cool box or bag. Cooler lines came with an air freshener lol..

This thermostat was slightly bigger than factory and was hard to install. Once installed my car began to over heat and replaced it back to a factory thermostat and worked just fine no over heating

great product pretty much saved my engine. After installing underdrive pulley set my car was overheating fast I could barely drive anywhere but after install this thermostat my water temp dropped by at least 15 degrees it was worth it.

It appears I have received a faulty unit. The way my temp gauge is set up, it measures temperatures after the thermostat opens up. In OEM terms 0-179F in a couple of seconds once it starts opening up. With this low temp thermostat, the temps just keep rising constantly which leads me to believe that it is stuck open. I reached out to Mishimoto about it, hopefully a replacement will be provided.

Although I had hoped for a little better performance with cooling for my Rx8 as a daily driver, this thermostat does provide piece of mind with it's obviously well constructed product. I noticed that the last one I had used, a Stant branded thermostat looked anemic in it's girth and performance prior to changing it out with Mishimoto. I have already installed an all aluminum Mishimoto radiator with a Gates water pump that I can now rest comfortably driving my 15 year old car in the Arizona heat.

Perfect product for the Rx8. The car runs hot from factory. This product will keep the car cooler. In addition if you can tune the ecu you can set the radiator fan to a lower setting thus improving engine coolant temp. I recommend this for all rx8 owners. Simple to install.
