About this item

  • Alder Body: Considered the most balanced tonewood for guitars, Alder delivers an exceptional and full-bodied tone, with a pronounced upper-midrange.
  • Soapbar Pickups: Sitting at the top of the Indio guitar line, DLX Plus Guitars feature the same premium materials and performance of high-end instruments, at a fraction of the cost. OS40 DLX Plus Guitars feature alder bodies with maple necks, as well as custom soapbar pickups and premium electronics. Known for their gritty and raw tone, "soapbar" single coil pickups produce a tone that is somewhere between that of classic single coil and dual coil humbucker style pickups. Although less common than single coil or humbucker pickups, soapbar pickups are responsible for some of the greatest and most memorable recorded tones in rock music.
  • Set up in the USA: All lndio OS40 DLX Guitars are professionally setup by our Master Luthier in Southern California, ensuring that your guitar plays exceptionally well, right out of the box.
  • Gig Bag Included: All Indio Electric Guitars ship with a protective Gig Bag to defend your axe against dings and scratches as you travel.
  • Soapbar pickups are responsible for some of the greatest and most memorable recorded tones in rock music.

From cult classic to contemporary indie rock mainstream, offset body guitars remain among the coolest of designs, even decades after their inception. Originally meant as genre specific instruments, "offsets" crossed musical boundaries to regain popularity in the 21st century. Indio OS40 DLX Plus Guitars honor the history of offsets by combining their timeless style with Indio's unmatched value.

Beautiful Indio DLX PLUS Jazzmaster style guitar. Sounds Great. Some people don't but I personally like the hook head.

So I own a mim strat, American tele etc but this guitar is in the mix. For the price it can't be beat....fit finish is great and very playable. Sounds very good. I like the neck but is more flat than fenders...14 degree. It has the heavy poly on neck, but that could be buffed down if you prefer a satin neck. I adjusted the action just a bit lower and it's great.

I ordered this on a whim as I love offset guitars and did not have one with a tremolo. I had watched a few reviews online for this brand and everyone seemed to have good things to say. I was actually more pleased with the color in person than in the picture. It's a nice, sparkly metallic blue. It seems well put together, nothing loose and no joint or paint issues. The electronics sound great and the trem stays in tune very well in my moderate style use. My only complaint here is that the trem makes a small squeak during use that is not perceptible in the output but is a bit annoying when I am playing at low volume through a practice amp. Not a deal breaker for me, but worth noting.I personally love the neck profile, not too thick and feels good in my hand. The neck is coated all the way around, so it's not a speed machine. The tuners do a fine job of holding tune and are smooth when turning. The nut is so so, and I will end up filing one of the slots just a smidge when I change strings. It doesn't catch the string, but I notice the E string needs a bit a time to adjust when tuning (if I quickly tune the E string up to spot on, wait 5 seconds and check it again, the note will be a couple of cents sharp). The frets are worst part of the whole guitar. The frets are level and polished and sharp enough to saw wood with on the ends! I spent some time on mine with fret file and have it almost where I want it. If you are not inclined to do this yourself or pay to have it done, that would be your number one consideration if mine is a true representation of the overall offering. It is also worth noting that I subsequently ordered a deluxe strat style guitar of this same brand, and the frets were mostly the same way on it.In all, I have to say I am satisfied with price I paid and what I received. Keep in mind I am willing to do my own setup, and I have the tools, which I know is not everyone out there. Happy playing!

Monoprice's Indio OS40 DLX arrived with the customary gg bag, well protected, and with flawless finish. The natural wood is much nicer than the online images, and it does have a high gloss poly coating on body and neck (some may like/dislike this, but not a flow). Frets feel smooth, no sprout or sharp edges. Tuners and P90 style pickups are fine, nothing special but functional. The jazz master style tremolo is push-in, not screw-in, arm stays in place (no droop or spin) and allows for vibrato up and down. Pretty good set-up (could tell it had been addressed by someone in the know) except, the low E intonation at 12th fret is a bit sharp and wll stay sharp because the saddle is all the way back/screw totally compressed. So they tried their best to get it intonated! I'll probably just cut the spring to allow more room. Other 5 strings intonated on arrival, and the strings are actually pretty nice. I bought this guitar after having watched/read a lot of reviews of the Monoprice Indio series, and wanted an offset style guitar at a lower price than Fnder and others were offering. Indio's OS40 model looks and sounds great for the money, and the issue with intonation is pretty minor compared to the issues that often plague budget import guitars. Heck, you even get a nicely padded gig bag (not a vinyl dustcover but an actual thick , embroidered, pocketed bag) with every Indio purchase. Also have the Indio Retro tel style guitar, which is less expensive but also much better craftwork than many entry-level guitars.

Decided to take a gamble on one of these Indio guitars after all the positive comments on YouTube and what not. Maybe the guitars they got were great but the phrase hot mess doesn’t belong to describe the the product I received or the customer service call I had with monoprice. Multiple tuners won’t hod tune at all, the pickups have a crazy loud buzz that changes depending on how you tilt the guitar, neck not properly aligned in the pocket, I could go on but shouldn’t have to. When I called the company they said they could only help me with warranty work and this wasn’t that so I would need to talk to Amazon. Kudos to Amazon for ultimately stepping up to deal with the problem but other than that not a great experience. Again, maybe I was just unlucky but if what I got is any indication of “bang for the buck” offered by Indio/Monoprice I would (will) spend my bucks somewhere else. Especially true for a new player. The guitar I received would actively discourage just about anyone from playing the instrument.
