Easy to adjust, but not one single bolt had Blue Loctite 242 on it. The scope ring screws & mounting screws are T15 torx. The MOA screws are T20 torx. A drop of Blue 242 Loctite on every bolt, work them back and forth a bit, then torque the to spec, and wait a few days. Those screws should stay put. Very nice milling work on the scope mount also. The price was excellent. If it doesn't stay put, a piece of thin, textured grip tape will fix that.

I set it up with 20 MOA of adjustment, making sure to hold the scope up to be in the 'notch'. Tightened with a torque screwdriver and laser boresighted. At the range the first shot was on paper, but when trying to correct scope alignment my subsequent shots were off the paper. After 10 shots I realized that the adjustment had shifted to 40 MOA under the modest recoil of a 6.5 Grendel.

The two piece adjustable base must not be designed for high recoil rifles such as an AR-10 .308 caliber. Even with blue Loctite it came loose. I mounted it on a regular AR-15 and it works fine. There is no mention in the description about a caliber restriction.

These are a little heavy but are well built. I personally wouldn’t use them on anything more than a 22 magnum because of to many moving parts

When I saw this Balrog mount concept, I just had to try it out. I liked the idea of the integrated level and thought the multiple adjustment options were very interesting. I've gotten multiple Monstrum components in the past and they were all quality designs with good materials and machining. The Balrog is no different -- its put together very well. The mount is more massive than I normally like but, if you're going to have this many dimensions of adjustment, you need a very solid platform and Monstrum has provided it. The Balrog is unique in that it allows you to adjust offset (front/back) by several inches and elevation by 50moa (the insert says 60moa but I'm not sure I saw that much). The integrated level assists with managing cant between shots. The big concern with this type mount is whether it is solid enough to hold multiple adjusted positions accurately. It can -- as long as you're careful to get good torque into the screws (they recommend 18ft lbs).I like the mount. When fitting a new scope on a new rifle, it actually simplified some of the raw adjustment process (finding comfortable eye relief, etc.). But given the extra mass, the question is who needs this solution and when? It is definitely useful for testing various setups on a new rifle. But, once set, most people are probably better off with a standard mount fixed where they want it and with less adjustment points that could cause future issues. But in other situations, it can make some sense. Like if you're sharing a rifle with someone who likes a different shooting position -- now you can easily adjust the forward/back position without changing anything else. Or long range shooters who find themselves needing some extra elevation for a shot -- with the Balrog, that flexibility is there. Personally, I think I'll mainly use it for testing as I love the flexibility of setting up one mount position but then smoothly switching scope positions. Beyond that, if you need the Balrog's adjustment capabilities, you probably know it and your only question is whether it works. Short answer: yes it does.
