They shipped a mattress that should have been opened 9 months ago. The manufacture said we had a 50-50 chance of it not expanding properly. We decided not to take a chance and returned it. We are STILL waiting for a refund 10 days later.

I did a lot of research before choosing this mattress for my guest room. It’s very comfortable. My 70+ year old in-laws loved it. It’s thick and well constructed. Glad I spent the extra money for a high quality mattress.

This is exactly what I wanted, is comfortable, and is pretty much exactly is it’s described. Love it and I hope they’re still making it when the one I’m on now wears out.

Paired this with the KD Frames Studio Bifold Futon (Queen) for guests, and they love it!

I didn't want to get a futon when I first moved into my smaller apartment because of how notoriously uncomfortable they can be, but I knew it would allow for a better use of space in my studio. I was reluctant at first to make this purchase, however I'm so happy I did because this mattress far exceeded my expectations. I've slept on it every night for the past 6 months, and I love how thick and plush it is. After the first couple of months I decided to purchase a 3" memory foam topper because sometimes I couldn't get comfortable laying on my side, and now I feel like I'm sleeping on a cloud. I highly recommend this mattress if you're looking at getting a futon that you intend to use often.

In my opinion, this is THE futon mattress to buy. I own two, one is a full size and one is a queen size. I bought the full size back in 2005 and it is still going strong, even after years of having two adults sleeping on it - still provides just the right amount of firmness and support. We bought the queen size back in 2013 when we got a larger bed-frame. Thus far, the queen sized version has been every bit as good as the full sized one. The only thing I would caution you on: this is not a mattress for someone who plans to keep their futon folded up into a couch. These mattresses are thick and they do not fold well.

My initial plan was to purchase this futon mattress to be used as a couch that can be converted to a bed in case I have guests. I did plan to use it for a while during the time I researched a higher-end mattress for daily use. For comparison's sake I was willing to spend in the $2600 range for a good mattress. I am sure some people will spend more, but for me that's quite a bit of money.Although I cannot yet vouch for its longevity I can say that in the last couple of weeks since I bought it I fallen asleep almost instantly and woken up feeling refreshed and without any back stiffness. Keep in mind that I moved from a house with multi-acre lots and virtually no noise to an apartment that is close enough to hear train whistles throughout the night and I was a very light sleeper beforehand.I was concerned that the mattress was going to be too soft as it is Otis Bed's softest futon mattress, but I am glad I made this choice. Like other reviews (not just on Amazon) have stated, this futon mattress is still quite firm. An additional advantage to the mattress being softer is that it can still be manipulated quite easily (in my opinion) into the couch position. I had read comments in other reviews that the firmer futon mattresses by Otis Beds feel like sleeping on a carpeted floor -- I did not want that. If I wanted the feeling of sleeping on a carpeted floor I would sleep on a carpeted floor. It is possible that because I have a relatively muscular rear that I need the extra softness for my spine to conform properly, so keep in mind that your body shape might make a difference in the firmness you need.At this point I see no need to purchase a "real bed" unless this mattress does not hold up. If I feel the need for another mattress I may very well get another one of these. The only difficulty with this mattress is in finding a slipcover that fits. If someone has suggestions on that front other than making my own I would appreciate it. I do know someone who can make them, but having the option to buy would be helpful information just in case.* I saw another Amazon review that stated it is not Queen size. I wonder if that person got the wrong sized mattress, because when I got it I placed it on top of my existing queen-sized bed to compare and they are exactly the same. A measuring tape confirmed this as well.

I've been frustrated for years by expensive mattresses that give out in a couple years, or which hurt my back a few months down the road. This is relatively inexpensive, and the 10 year warranty reassures me.Nevertheless I was frustrated by the Moonshadow til I learned 2 things about it: the first is I must flip and shake it out every week. Kind of like rotating your tires. This is what my grandmother and mother did with all mattresses in the house, but I don't think people do it nowadays. Perhaps if you weigh 100 pounds you could flip it every couple months, but if you are over 150 as I am, you will make a nice dent in the mattress. However, it does shake out and immediately becomes comfortable again. It is lightweight enough to pick up and flip with a bit of effort but has no handles. The second thing is, it matters what the Moonshadow is placed on. A hard, even level surface seems best. I had it on a metal wire platform bed frame made to be used without a box spring. I think it was sagging, giving me a bad backache, so I put the Moonshadow on the floor, on a rug, and my backache went away in 4 days. Perhaps it would be good on a tatami mat.I was disappointed with the Moonshadow because I was getting a backache after using it a few months. I bought a few mattress toppers, one which was close to the price of the Moonshadow. Turns out the Moonshadow was fine and I don't need the toppers, just had to flip it and get it on the right surface. This is a good, well-made, lightweight mattress and I recommend it. It has kept its edge shape very well. I also love the name.I subtracted a star because it has no handles. Makes it harder to flip it. I would have subtracted just 1/2 star if I could.
