I purchased this product directly from the Mossberg website. The Mossberg Flex interchangeability concept is brilliant, the engineering is excellent, the manufacturing quality is outstanding. So why only two stars? Apparently, Mossberg doesn't understand that smaller people who require a shorter LOP (12.5") also have smaller hands.So while this stock does have the shorter LOP, it retains the longer grip to trigger length of a full sized stock. My wife, at 5'6", finds the LOP just right when shouldering the gun, but unfortunately her trigger finger is 1" short of the trigger. Some might suggest choking up which would likely work on a double barrel or semi-auto shotgun but will not work with a pump action where a good grip with the back hand is a requirement to effectively cycle (pump) the action and fire the next round.In summary, I would not recommend it nor buy it again. It's a great idea that fails miserably as it falls "short" in function (pun intended). YMMV...

I must have been looking at this wrong when I ordered it because I have a standard Mossberg 500. The standard Mossberg needs a special adapter to make this work. The adapter costs fifty dollars at this time. But, you then have the ability to easily swap out for a pistol grip or other flex rear butt piece, which is neat. The main reason I purchased this was to get a shorter length of pull. I bought a red dot sight and even with the sight all the way back on the mount, it still did not have enough eye relief to work properly. In my opinion shotguns have too long a length of pull out of the factory, but I am a 5'5" female so that comes into play.Some disadvantages:Weaker than the standard stock that I replaced, thinner plastic towards the rear and sidewall of the pad end. If I had to redo this purchase I would probably buy one of the AR style adjustable stocks, even though I think they look dumb on a shotgun.***** I do not like the quick removable recoil pad feature. I have concerns it will come off accidentally, the little detent button is on the bottom rear and is very sensitive.Regarding the flex adapter, there is danger of it scratching the metal receiver when it rotates. (This is regarding the adapter which is separate of this product.)Pros-thick pad. It's a butt stock it serves it's purpose.If you are considering getting a pistol grip accessory as well be aware that the Mossberg 500's have the safety switch at the top rear of the receiver which is not easily reached from the 90 degree style pistol grip shape. In order to easily reach the safety you need this standard stock or a birds head stock (such as the ones on the Shockwave - Mossberg's shorty shotgun.)

Pretty straight forward here. Hard to screw up a buttstock. Flex adapter is amazing and padding for shoulder is nice and with customizable sizes.

very nice butt pad. Really helps reduce felt recoil. Had to replace the pistol grip, could not hit anything that way.

Cut down overall length on home use shotgun. This is very comfortable. Rubberized grip really is an improvement. Do be warned; this is only for the FLEX Mossberg 500. Not for old 500's. The mounting point where it meets the aft receiver is NOT the screw in type. It slides into rails. I was curious and did not find an adapter for old m500's. It would have increased the length anyway. Very well made part.
