This filter is internal to the 6F50 transmission and can only be replaced when the transmission is being rebuilt. There is no pan on the bottom of this transmission to remove to gain access to the filter like on the pre 2004 Taurus. I was hoping to do a filter replacement on a 2008 Taurus like I used to on a 1998 Taurus/ Sable, but the design is totally different.This purchase and the gasket were easy to return to Amazon. I also like the way Amazon can tell which parts fit which cars. Five star service from Amazon.

Caution: you have to rip apart transmission to install. Perfect OEM part though.
