This is our third of this type of handgun safe. The other two are not biometric and we were locked out of one of safes for a couple of years because we forgot the code, the battery went dead, and we lost the keys. We were eventually able to pick the tubular lock to open it, replace the internal 9V battery and set a new code. With this HolaDream safe, getting locked out would have been virtually impossible. Firstly, the batteries are externally mounted, so they can be replaced if they go dead, plus there is an auxiliary USB-C port that will power the safe without batteries. Secondly, the safe won't forget the biometrics, even after its lost power (e.g., from dead batteries). The 30 print capacity is enough for two people to store prints for all 10 fingers and 5 of their toes. I am very impressed with how robust the finger print reader is. It does a great job at recognizing finger prints at a variety of angles. The safe keys are not the simple conventional type that you might find for a file cabinet lock, but have slots cut in the sides suggesting the lock would be difficult to pick. The safe is not silent. The keypad and finger print reader feedback beeps can be muted, but the latch release motor makes a whirring noise for about half a second and the tray rollers make noise while the spring-loaded tray is sliding open. The sound is loud enough to be heard in another room."Standby mode", where all settings are configured, is not defined in the instruction manual, but means with the tray open. The only issue I've had with the safe was a very strong chemical odor coming from the foam liner, which accounts for the 4-star rating. I suspect that being sealed in a relatively air-tight bag immediately after manufacturing slowed the foam curing down. I took the foam liner out of the safe and left it outdoors for a couple of weeks and the smell was gone.I recommend the HaloDream pistol safe.

This is a great quality gun safe. Very well constructed and has amazing features. This is one of three safes I own and the biometric feature has to be my favorite of all. It’s very functional and has multiple ways to open. It fits perfectly on the side of a nightstand and easy to access. This is definitely worth the cost. Highly recommend.

A nice, small gun safe for my bedroom. It seems to be well built but it wouldn't keep a burglar from prying it open, it will stop kids or others from getting my gun.I like that it has 3 ways of opening, with a code, fingerprint or a key.The battery compartment is also on the outside so it's easy to replace the batteries. You can also connect a USB battery bank to it in case the batteries are dead and you need to open it.I have a Sig P365 inside with a spare magazine and there's more than enough room.If you want to keep your firearm nearby but don't want to risk a kid from getting to it, this safe is the perfect place to keep it stored.

If you're looking for a gun safe to keep next to your Batter under your counter, this is perfect.I've had lots of smaller gun safe for both under my shop counter and next to my bed. And none of them opened as smoothly or as quietly as this one. Also, the problem with other saves is they keep the batteries on the inside with no way of recharging them if the battery die so the keypad no longer works. Yes they do have keys that come with it, but it's very inconvenient. This one solves that problem with USB charging. You can either use a code or your finger print or a key. Make sure you have the code memorized if you're in any type of a situation, your finger might be too shaky to actually put on the fingerprint reader and you'll wanna know that code.I had it attached to the side of my counter in my shop. But I'm gonna be buying another one for the house. I have a couple ideas where to keep it.If you're looking for a smooth, easy to use very effective gun safe, I would highly recommend this one.

This fails the 'bored teen' test. A 6 inch piece of stiff wire wiggled into the exposed side slots from the mounting bracket can make its way up to the reset button and press it for 6 seconds, defaulting the unit. Takes about... 6 seconds. 1234 and its open. I defeated this attack by adhering a thin metal plate to the unused side, and putting a 3d printed sticky cover over the button. The other fly in the ointment is the mounting bracket, Anyone who praises how study this thing is never looked at or tried to use the mounting bracket. ONE screw hold it on, and it rattles and shakes no matter how tight you get it. They include an extra screw. You can remove the drawer by sliding the release latches on each rail and undoing the spring and LED light connector. Fomr there, you can tighten the screw better. or do what I did, mark the second hole, droll it from the outside, and install TWO screws which makes it mount a TON better. I also added some single-sided foam tape to take up the gap and tighten the whole assembly. I also disabled the speaker, as that was not needed and beeps VERY loudly. The BLUE led was unpleasant, i replaced it with a soft white LED.This is a 3.5 star product, but i am leaning towards 4 because it's like.. 80% of the way there. A few minor changes would make this a 5 star product. A white LED instead of blue (no one wants blue lighting on the inside), add a second screw hole for the mount from the factory, and cover or move the reset button so it can only be accessed when the front hatch is open. As it is, if you add an adhesive plate to the inside of the unused mounting holes or otherwise cover the reset button, and drill that second hole, i'd say its fine for a second layer of security in an otherwise relatively secure situation. It's a fancy gun locker at that point. It is not bored teen proof. It is not a full on safe.
