Wanted an outlet with USB charging at the end of our couch, away from the wall. Used an old work box and a ten foot 15-amp replacement power cord to do exactly what I wanted. Worked out perfectly.

This is a nice set of outlets that include USB-A outlets. They are 5 amp max so not necessarily the choice for high output charging requirements but work fine for normal charging needs.Simple installation and include the outlet covers in the package.

For years, my wife had a bulky power adapter with USB slots hanging above the kitchen table. It did its job okay, but it could be prone to falling out when too many devices were plugged into it.These outlets have solved that issue. Plus, they're just that much more aestheticly appealing when nothing is plugged in.The outlets were extremely easy to install. My setup was a little more complicated since it had two sets of wires running into the box. So, the terminal screws on the side were not an option. But, thankfully, the manufacturer had the foresight to build alternative connections on the back side!In less than 30 minutes, both outlets had been replaced and were in use! Phones were charging great!**NOTE: Because of the interior circuitry needed to regulate voltage for the USB-ports, these outlets are much deeper than a standard duplex. With four wires (and a ground to deal with) I was worried that the outlets may not recess far enough into the box, but they did! If you have shallow boxes installed? You're out of luck without changing the box as well.

So, you have your smart TV that you want to mount on the wall, rather than on top of a shelf or cabinet. Maybe you want a surround sound audio bar below it. Both need to be plugged into an AC outlet. Then, you may have Firestick or Roku device that need to plug into a USB for power. Do you really want all those unsightly cords dangling down the wall and plugging into an existing AC outlet? No! What you do is get this AC outlet with USB and place the new outlet behind where the TV is going to be mounted. Either do it yourself (fairly easy) or get a qualified electrician to do it (fairly expensive). Most of the time there is an existing AC outlet below where you want the TV. It's easy to place a gang box (about $2) on an interior wall and run Romex down the inside of the wall to the existing outlet. You just need to turn off the power to that circuit while you work on it and make three connections at each outlet. You may need to have some patience to fish the wall. You want to have a clear path so you need to be on the correct side of the studs. You don't even need a stud finder. Once you open the cover of the existing outlet, you will see that one side of it is mounted to the stud. They make inexpensive gang boxes that simply pinch up to the drywall for mounting, so you don't need to mount the new box to a stud.
