Excellent quality for the money. The blade is without flaws and with a very nice distinct hamon. Very sharp! The T10 steel is a very strong and reliable steel. Handle ito wrap reasonably tight and all fittings firmly secured. The fit of the tanto in the saya (sheath) is appropriately snug. The saya itself is well made. The only criticism is the small ornaments located on either side of the kurigata are not permanently anchored in. This is not anything critical. The kurigata is the knob affair with a hole intended to traditionally hold the sageo cord used to secure the tanto on a belt if ever in serious use. Evidently the purpose of the shitodome is to help the sageo from fraying. The whole affair is a little overkill and may simply be an added cosmetic enhancement of the Edo Period when Samurai fighting and battles had come to an end.On this particular tanto the ornaments (shitodome) just float. However, I have swords where the shitodome are and are not anchored. So maybe they are suppose to float? It’s not a big deal to permanently remove the ornaments or Gorilla Glue them in. The issue is insignificant with regard to my 5 star rating.I have a dozen swords from various sellers and the Murasame can’t be beat for quality at its price range. Won’t hesitate to check them out again when buying another sword.

Flawless! Light! Gorgeous! Battle ready sharp! Sharp enough for any ceremonial ritual(Seppuku) or experimental testing purposes. No slack or wobble in wooden scabbard.🇺🇸Thank you swordsmith🇯🇵Arigatou gozaimasu Kaji

I had been looking for a black tanto to match a black katana and a black wakizashi. This fits the bill nicely. The build is well done with quality materials. It is sharp right out of the bag. This is one you might consider a two tier display stand to show the sword and the saya together. The saya is textured, so it does not show fingerprints. For the price point, I am very happy with this tanto. Murasame takes pride in their swords and it shows in the final product.

Has good reviews but I was still worried after I bought this. Great packaging by the vender! Box was very snug and secure, stapled and taped shut. Foam inserts to brace in the middle of the box. Outer bag is nice and wrapped together and the blade was also bagged! Once I wiped the blade off, I noticed how really nice everything was! I'm no expert but this thing is worth the money, big time! I'll probably buy a couple more from them!

The tanto was delivered today after a few weeks, which is standard overseas shipping. The package wasn’t beat up and the blade came flawless. It is T10 folded as advertised and the blade is very sharp. It will kill wildlife and will pierce flesh (I’ve already cut my skin purposely, not deep obviously). The paper cut was thorough as well; I’d give it a 7/10 in cutting. Only issue I have and the reason I don’t give it 5 stars is that the tsukamaki did not come as advertised as you can see my picture and the ad pic have different wraps. This is not such a big deal as I can re wrap mine with authentic silk braid but I should not have to. The tsukamaki it came with is wrapped tightly however will still move if you do it purposely. I haven’t had it for long so I can’t say for sure but regular use shouldn’t mangle or move the wrapping. In conclusion the tanto is beautiful and the fittings are not very cheap. The blade is sharp as hell but the tsukamaki is not as advertised.
