Musashi Collections

Silver Collection 1060 High Carbon Steel Maru-kitae

Silver Collection

  • Steel Types: 1060 High Carbon Steel
  • Forge Method: Maru-Kitae

Musashi Swords start with nothing less than 1060 high carbon steel. Found primarily in our Musashi Silver Collection these swords offer a great compromise between strength and edge hardness. Not only are 1060 carbon steel swords able to hold an edge, its primary focus is its durability. Increased durability is used by incorporating traditional Maru-Kitae method of forging from a homogenous steel.

Gold Collection T10 1095 1090 High Carbon Steel Maru-kitae hand forged

Gold Collection

  • Steel Types: 1090, 1095, or T10 High Carbon Steels
  • Forge Method: Maru-Kitae

The Musashi Gold Collection starts with a minimal of 1090 high carbon steel and moves up to 1095, T10 as well as Damascus steels as bases for the hand forged blades. Forged using the traditional Maru-Kitae method of forging from a homogenous steel. High carbon steel is very hard and must be properly heat treated thus making its forging process extremely difficult. This particular type of steel is exceptional at holding its edge. Every sword from our Gold Collection is clay tempered and full tang to make sure they will perform the way they were designed. Functionality, beauty, and value, our Musashi Gold Collection swords combines beautifully designed work of art with skillfully hand sharpened edges to give you a sword that is hard to beat.

Platinum Collection Two Steels 1060 1090 1095 T10 High Carbon Steel Hand Forged Kobuse-kitae

Platinum Collection

  • Combines Two Steel Types: From 1060 High Carbon Steel up to T10
  • Forge Methods: Kobuse-Kitae and Gomai-Kitae

The Musashi Platinum Collection combines two steel using either the Kobuse-Kitae method (combining two types of steels) or the Gomai-Kitae method (three layers two steels). 1095 carbon steel is very hard and must be properly heat treated making its forging process extremely difficult. This particular type of steel is exceptional at holding its edge. When combined with 1060 or even 1095 high carbon steel, this katana is a combination of the best of both worlds; keeping a keen edge while still maintaining its durability. Through the Kobuse-Kitae and Gomai-Kitae forging methods our Musashi Platinum Collection swords combine a beautifully designed work of art with a skillfully sharp sword edge.

Miyamoto Collection T10 Tamahagane High Carbon Steel Hand Forged

Miyamoto Collection

  • Steel Types: T10 or Tamahagane

Our toughest swords in the Musashi collection come from the Miyamoto Collection. These swords consist of either T10 steel or Tamahagane. T10 steel is a tungsten alloy steel that has an extremely high carbon content combined with a bit of silicon. This makes for an exceptionally hard blade that is impervious to scratches and abrasions. Tamahagane, literally translated means “jewel steel,” is one of the rarest materials used in katana forging. The forging process to create a sword using Tamahagane takes several months to years. Due to its difficulty each Tamahagane sword is as unique as the sword smith that created it and truly one of the must-have swords in any collection.

Sword is a very nice piece, but I did not receive what I ordered / what was advertised. I received a “Bamboo” style Tsuba instead of the Miyamoto Musashi style Tsuba as pictured. Slightly disappointed

Very decent sword for the money. It’s definitely an entry level sword. Not super sharp but definitely not dull. Handle is solid. Wrapped well and hamon is attractive. Can’t complain for the price.

Comes with a decent edge. Not razor sharp. I'm thinking that it is possibly more designed for combat with armored opponents than being razor sharp for cutting tatami mats perhaps? Extremely sharp katana in a certain price range tend to get damaged more easily in my experience. It displays well. I imagine that depending on the Chinese smith that made each blade there might be some variation in workmanship (since I suspect that these katana are made in a number of different production facilities.) Mine is great aside from some minor issues with the ray skin that I was able to fix quite easily and a slight bending that I was able to correct. The menuki are on the cheap side (no surprise there given the price). I will be replacing mine. The habaki wasn't as finished as I would like. It was rough and lined as if it was shaped by grinder. This resulted in the saya becoming a bit loose. But as others have stated for this price it's more than decent! Note: In the photos attached to this review I over-oiled the blade to compensate for dust while displaying it. It looks as if there are imperfections but it's just the excess oil.

I just received this and upon first inspection.........five stars ! This is a nice sharp decent blade. I've paid a bit more for a lot less. I will be purchasing more from them as I haven't seen or held anything better under $300. Come get some zombies !

The sword is beautiful and very sturdy, no loose parts. It has a real hamon. The blade was very sharp but not razor sharp so I will be sharpening it, but it still cut through the box it came in like it was paper. The top of the blade has a triangular shape which fits into the matching triangular shape cut into the inside of the saya which was a nice detail I wasn't expecting. The Tsuka and all parts we very tight and sturdy. It has real ray skin. The craftsmanship I literally cannot believe for $125. Like others have said in Muashi reviews it feels like a $500 sword and I will buy more from this company.

I have just received my sword both are beautiful, very sharp, don't care about "razor" sharp, everything on the swords are perfect from the Saya fits very tight , sageo soft cotton shoelace kind off but nice, Tsuba very small I love it and Tsuka ito nice and tight, Same real ray skin. and I must say that dealing with Musashi /1sword, has been a pleasure, before ordering I called Musashi directly to verified the item specs. spoke with Peter (salesman) it was a very pleasant conversation, he eased my mind so much so that I ended up buy 2 swords from them. great customer service. Thank you.UPDATE: 7/23/2020. Once again Musashi/1sword customer service just blew my mind" there was a little snag with USPS both of my sword were scanned but forgotten about it for 5 days I called Musashi spoke with Lisa she immediately went into action contacting the local post office... long story short I got my swords 1 day ahead schedule. sadly there are only 5 stars.
