The Mustad Demon Offset Circle Hook is a true circle hook featuring a wide gap, offering the best hookup ratios. It features 2X strong wire and making it perfect to target bigger fish. The distinct curved shape of the circle hook will, when the fish takes the baited hook and swallows it, ensure that the hook travels to the corner of the mouth or lip, resulting in fewer deep-hooked fish.
The circle hook can be used for a whole range of applications from drifting with live bait for Tarpon or trolling for Sailfish. When live baiting, always choose a hook size that matches the bait. These hooks are awesome. Usually go up one size over the hook you’re using and offset a little and they hook up great when snelled correctly.

Mustad hooks are always a good value. You can pay more if it makes you feel like you'll catch more fish, but I never found a measurable difference.

They work on Bowfin. These can hook up with bony mouthed Bowfin, they catch pike, catfish and carp. I'm very impressed

All these sizes have a time, place for targeting specific catfish. I like the 9/0 with small live baits. 10/0 fine wire for a little bigger baits. And the 7/0 with smaller cut baits for medium sized channel cats. By far my favorite hook.

As you may know, most catfish have large mouths and some of them grow to very large size; it takes a rugged hook with the proper curvature to bring them up off the bottom, particularly large Blue Catfish or Yellow Catfish. This is an excellent hook for this purpose that allows the fish to self hook without the angler having to "set the hook" while bottom or drift fishing. I have never had one to break on me and have used them offshore as well for large red snapper. They can be reused if properly cared for to avoid rust and dulling of the point. This requires washing the hooks in fresh water, removing them from the line, and reshaping the point when needed with a diamond or ceramic sharpener stone.

I have decided to fish dead stick (rod in holder), while doing maintenance chores such as cutting bait and chumming. These circle hooks do fairly well hooking fish under these conditions as when the fish tries to swim away the fish hook's himself. The hooks I have received have been made in China but seem to be quality hooks.. They remain sharp after a day of fishing for Blackfish, as I suspect the sharply turned in point is not likely to be subjected to being point loaded into say something like a moss covered rock.It is extremely difficult, if not impossible, to resharpen these hooks properly with conventional hones as the turned in point prevents such.I have caught 10 pound blackfish without issue, using a size 3/0 hook but would recommend a larger size only since the typical bait used for blackfish are crabs and the small gap space inhibits one from easily placing the bait on the hook.I probably would have given it a five star rating if cost was not one of my considerations.
