Works as advertised. Pops right in to an office chair base, just like any other gas cylinder. I have one issue, and this is my bad. I'm 6' 2" tall. I assumed the 8" cylinder was for me. Nope. At its lowest setting, it's just a bit too tall for my comfort. So hopefully this helps you pick the appropriate cylinder for you.

Good replacement. Some difficulty on removing from my chairs. Cut, and hammers. Stuck hard. Getting better after number 4.

We swapped out the chair lifts on our countertop table chairs, and they're looking great with good quality. But don't get misled by those quick and easy YouTube videos where someone effortlessly replaces them. You'll actually need a proper pipe wrench and a heavy mallet for this job! There's a subreddit dedicated to this topic, so you might want to check it out for more tips.

I had to replace the lift cylinder on my desk chair, and this thing worked great for that. It was easy to install once I pride my old defective cylinder out. I was very happy with this replacement.

I bought a new chair that was just too low to work comfortably.I bought the 8" link cylinder which works great all the way down so it should never fail to hold height or at least I won't care. All the way up makes it a high chair. I'm set if I put a bar in my office. So the first purchase was because I didn't read the specs on my new chair close enough. The second one was to fix the old chair.

Removal of the old cylinder can be done with some lubricant, a hammer, and a pair of channel locks or a pipe wrench. The way I found success was by applying a generous amount of multi purpose silicone based lubricating oil to both sides of the outer cylinder where it seats in the wheel base, as well as where the inner cylinder connects to the actual seat base, and letting that sit for a day with a few paper towels underneath to catch any drips. WD-40 would probably work too, I used silicone based lubricant so it wouldn't damage any plastics though. After it sat for a day or two I held the chair upside down by the wheel base and gave it a few good hard hits right in the center of the bottom of the cylinder with a 2 lb. hammer, and it came free. To separate the inner cylinder from the rest of the chair I placed it upside down on the ground and knocked it side to side a few times with the same hammer, then grabbed the inner cylinder and gave it a twist with the channel locks, which did the trick for that. Remember that channel locks and pipe wrenches only 'grab' going one direction, so if it's slipping go the other way.Do yourself a favor and plug your ears with something. Seriously.New cylinder was a drop in replacement, and so far is working well. Hope this helps someone out there.

I needed a replacement cylinder for my older chair but was having a hard time even removing it. First off the tool worked lovely and was infinitely easier then whatever I was doing. My only real complaint is the replacement cylinder it comes with is REALLY high. Like if I put it all the way up I have to actually jump to get on my chair. If I put it all the way down my chair still doesn't fit under my desk. So now I have a working cylinder put I have to sit an extra foot away from my desk, I guess you can't have it all. It was easy to install (and uninstall my old one) 5* there, if you need a cylinder this high it's probably a 5* for you there also. As far as comfort goes I have to rate it a 1* for ME PERSONALLY because I'm gonna have to replace this cylinder it's WAY TOO HIGH. If you're looking for something that goes high though this is the cylinder for you. The tool is also pretty priceless lol

Replacing the gas lift in my chair made it possible for me to put my chair higher. I have relatively long legs, and this also made it such that I have a good posture for using my Sunny Under-Desk Mini-Elliptical.

Good and Durable Design. There is lots of good advice here, here is our contribution.Fitting. First, find an old Blanket or Towel and lay it on the Bed or on the Floor. Tilt over the Chair and lay it on the Blanket or Towel Arms Rests Down. Remove the 4 Screws securing the Seat to the Base, Lower Screws First, then the Upper. The Gas Cylinder is a press fit into the Seat and the Base and only needs a good knock on the Seat Base Frame or the Wheels Base Frame to free it off, a little WD 40 will help. Reassembly is the reverse procedure. Advice is to buy the best Gas Cylinder you can afford though not necessarily the most expensive

I bought this to replace the gas cylinder in my old office chair that has become faulty after many years of use. It has been 6 months and it's still holding strong using the chair every day so no complaints so far. Not sure if it was necessary but I removed my old cylinder and measured the inside/outside diameter along with the length to make sure the new one had the same measurements which it did.

Bought this back in August. Seemed to work well so I bought a second one for another chair. Welp, after only a couple of months this first one has stopped working. It no longer keeps the chair up - constantly drops. I bought this because it was heavy duty and supposed to support a lot more weight than what I weigh. Too late to return it, of course. I use this chair everyday. I will try a different brand (though I think all of these are made at the same factory and sold to different companies). However, first I am going to try to get it out of the base attached to the bottom of the chair. I never could remove the original one (from either chair), no matter how many videos I watched, and how easy they said it was, and trying several different ways it was suggested to have it easily pop out of the base. I ended up having had to buy a whole new bottom piece for both chairs as well. I am now concerned the second one will fail too. I don't use that chair as much (it's in the basement with my craft area) so we'll see. If I can't get it out of the base I'm not sure what I'll do. Buying a new chair would probably be cheaper than constantly having to replace these faulty, poorly made pieces.
