I bought one of these things many years ago and loved it. The lens appeared to be glass and the image was clear and sharp. So I just bought three of these (one for each grandchild) and found the woodwork was beautiful, but the optical piece (lens) appeared to be plastic-like, rather than glass, and the image is foggy/smokey. Also the seating of the of the optical piece was not uniform across the three. On one of them the lens protrudes further out of the wood tube, than the other two. I think that the children will still enjoy them, but the clarity is disappointing.

Super Small and couldn't see out of it so had to return it.
