The antique-looking globe looks great on its nice brass stand. I enjoy seeing it as I pass by, and I enjoy studying it. I have been surprised by a few things. Who knew that most of Europe lies north of the U.S.?

Had to return the first globe because it was defective (due to shipping and poor packing), but this new globe is perfect and absolutely beautiful. Thank you for making the return easy, with no questions.

I had to return this because it was a gift for someone who already had a globe. I felt sad to return such a beautiful and unique globe. The service from the company was outstanding. It arrived perfectly packed and in pristine condition.

Most of the globes available seem to have way too many cities and geographical points of interest added to them, cluttering up the globe up with text. That's a terrible idea, all that detail best left to 2D maps. This model has wonderful colors and shades making it slightly antique looking, but it's got the modern borders and major cities and capitals and major geographic features in text such as mountain ranges, bodies of water, capes, deserts etc. Also a few major seafloor ocean features. Turns out the people at National Geographic know a thing or two about how to clearly present information! The stand and arm are nice antique cast metal. The mountain ranges have a 3D relief effect, but it is very shallow. Kind of pricey at usd 115 (2022) but probably worth it if you're into maps and geography, as a globe presents the world and spatial relations on it in a way that you just can't ever understand from flat maps or even Google Earth. A must for students learning geography. One criticism I have is that the stand is not very advantageous if you're trying to study the southern hemisphere. You're tempted to throw the globe on its side and it doesn't like resting on its side and liable to damage it. For this much money you might expect to have a mount that rotates so that you can see the south better.

I'm giving this globe as a gift to someone who really likes globes. I determined that this one checked all of the boxes for my criteria. Upon receiving it, I'm glad I chose this one. For the price, it is definitely the best quality as well as including the names of countries and bodies of water (surprisingly so many didn't). I love the old world look as well and the base is substantial so the it should hold up well. Overall I am very happy with the purchase. I haven't given the globe to the intended person yet, but am excited to see his reaction.
