I got a couple of these for my students to use when they're working on media projects in class. Too often it's hard for them to track down the clips they want to use while they're editing, but when they slate with these at the beginning of each take, it's much easier for them to find their good ones.The surface is smooth and good quality. I like the markers they come with and it's easy enough to erase any marks.

Kam gerade an, leider schon mit einigen Kratzern (siehe Bilder). Auch leider ohne Magnet. Wie viele Drehs dieses Model aushalten wird, ist noch unklar. Aber für diesen Preis auch nicht zu viel erwarten :)

I have been using this to shoot a feature film and love it. You need to know a clapper is sturdy enough to last unlike the cheap ones. You are safe here.

OK. For the price I paid ($15.50), this is a great deal. I have started playing with editing and film making as a way to bolster my skillset in animation. (Mainly as a hobby with my youngest daughter age 10). The first thing I noticed that it felt stiff to open this was surprising but after looking I realized that it has a magnet that helps keep it closed and pulls it closed when clapping a bit. This is a benefit I see and was happy to see. Yes, the print on the camera facing side is going to wear off over time. But this is inevitable and honestly can be fixed easily. I would have liked to see it with a plexiglass cover you could replace but that isn't too bad and I can deal with it. The "Clack" is clear and crisp I like that and it makes My youngest and I feel like we are a bit more professional than we are. The three screws were a bit loose when I received it but I anticipated this from previous reviews. a touch of lock tight and I'm off and running. I'll probably be modifying this in the future with a way to attach a dry erase marker and small eraser to the back. It works. It's a bit smaller than an 8.5" X 11" piece of paper. But that fits with the description and the photos.If your lettering or lines start to wear off this is an easy fix. personally, I'll probably see if attaching some plexiglass over the body will work like this should prevent wear and it's a bit glossy anyway. Is it the absolute best? But in my opinion, it's extremely good for the price point. I'll most likely be buying another for a Filmmaker friend of mine as a gift. (I'll probably put it in a glass case or shadow box with print on the front saying "In case if inspiration BREAK GLASS" Anyway not dissapointed at all.

Ok, before ordering this I read several reviews that said the board was prone to staining even with dry erase markers. So I did an experiment.First, I wrote numbers 1 thru 5 on the back of the board using an Expo dry erase marker (first picture). I erased the 1 after one minute, the 2 after two minutes and so on. Each mark, even 5 after five minutes, erased cleanly with nothing but a simple eraser (picture 2).Next, I wrote "1 hr Test" on the back and left the mark there for one hour (picture 3). Even after an hour, the mark erased cleanly with no staining.So, in conclusion, the staining reviews are not accurate so long as the correct markers are used and marks are not left for prolonged periods. I'd recommend using Expo brand.As far as the loose screws, they do have a tendency to work lose, but a small drop of thread sealant (Loc-Tite) is a simple fix.Overall, it's a simple, cheap slate ideal for low-budget filmmakers.

Far more durable than I expected. The sound is good enough for my post-production work to sync off of and is legible enough to read even in the worst light. I velcroed dry erase markers on the back so they are always easy to find. It has magnets at the end of the clapper so it stays closed when in the trunks and totes so won't break. Been pretty rough on it and it still hangs in there. Every now and then it needs a good cleaning in between uses.
