Bought to use for a welder, but could also be a plasma cutter, or anything else that can pull up to 50 amps. I like these clamshell type plugs because the thicker gauge wire required for 50 amps isn't exactly "flexible" so having the terminals laid out like they do makes it fairly easy to build the plug. The terminals appear brass to me, but I didn't try to sand a layer off to see if they were just plated.

This brand is undoubtedly one of the best when it comes to all their products, especially the male and female plugs. I have personally used them for my own wire link from my solar-powered battery bank to my home, and they perform exceptionally well. The design greatly simplifies construction, it makes it easier and the price is very reasonable considering the quality. I highly recommend them.

Nice well made plug.The terminals are plenty big enough to handle a pretty big wire (not all are).Got this for my westinghouse 9500d generator. It has a 50 amp outlet.This fits perfect.Great item

I am moving my current 16A EVSE into my car as my travel EVSE and I wanted to build a set of NEMA 14-30/14-50 to NEMA 6-20 adapters so I don’t have to worry about the plug available to charge when I park somewhere. With such adapters I’m covered anywhere someone has a plug for an EV, an RV, a Drier, or a high power Espresso Machine or some shop equipment. Most probably it’ll just be a short term rental or a friend’s house with a drier I can use the 14-30 or 10-30 from.I didn’t realize that this is the same plug as the convertible 14-30/14-50 the same brand sells and I realized I could just skip the Neutral pin and have a combination 14-30/14-50 since EVs don’t need the neutral phase. I put a little clear caulk over the deleted pin to avoid anything getting into the opening. I can push it out with the pin if I ever need to repurpose the plug.I wired my molded donor receptacle to the hot wires and ground per the instructions. The plug supports 12-6AWG wire and has strain reliefs for each type of SWOOJ cable. The 12AWG strain relief fit like a glove and the wire lengths/strip guide was correct.The only information missing was the torque spec for the saddle connectors on the power pins. I torqued to 15 in-lbf/1.7nm which was a little higher than what a different brand of 6-20r asked for and easy to set on my torque driver. Nothing stripped and the connection feels very tight. If you’re using 12AWG like I am, perhaps this is a correct value.The shell has a claw that helps the clamshell align and makes it really easy to close up. This is a very well thought out device.
