Your machine embroidery design must be digitized for puff foam. The foam will tear away after embroidery. Then use a craft heat gun to shrink the foam. Your foam color should match your thread color as closely as possible for best results.The foam performs okay.You get 6 sheets of one color. When I ordered, there wasn't a multi-color pack. I am glad to see that is an option currently.

I was so excited to receive this embroidery puffy foam from New brothread! I love the look of 3D embroidery, and finding out that I can to do this myself at home was a revelation.The package I ordered came with 6 pieces: 3 white, 3 black. The manufacturer advises matching the thread to the foam color just in case it shows through in spots. After I perfect my technique with what I have, I'll try the multi-color pack so that I can branch out.The 3mm foam really doesn't appear to be much thicker than craft foam I've used for kids' projects. If desired, it can be layered for a more pronounced 3D effect. It is strong enough to hold up against the embroidery machine needle, yet flexible enough to be torn away when the design is complete.I'm really happy that I ordered this product.

The quality of this foam is fantastic! The large size is huge in comparison to other brands, allowing me to get more use out of the sheets and the colors and nice and vibrant! I'll only be using this brand of embroidery foam from now on!
