Not one but two of the screws busted off when I screwed them into the post base. I lost trust in supplied screws and used my own to finish the job. Also, bracket holes are not offset enough to avoid hitting the screws from the other brackets.

I succesfully used this product to tighten up a post for my handrail to part of my stairs. I worked very well. There are two sizes of screws to mount the brackets. These are large ones to mount the brackets to the floor and smaller ones to mount the bracket to the post. The large screws worked well, but the heads came off of some of the smaller ones when I was still screwing them in. The screws seem to be made of a soft metal. If you buy the product, I would suggest that you get some steel screws to use instead of the small screws that come with the product. If you don't get steel screws, you should be very careful screwing the small ones in.

Installed new newel posts and this seemed like the best option for install. Install was easy but needed to get longer bolts to install on the floor due to previous builders workmanship. The wood was good in appearance and took the stain well. This is a decent product if you choose this type of installation. I'd recommend

Well cut, seems it will be sturdy enough, but I have concerns about the strength of the screws. If you put the screws in at much of an angle at all the heads snap off when tightening. The reason I gave 4-stars instead of 3-stars is the other 'brands' screws are likely the same. I only broke 2 screws, one was partially my fault (maybe) because I didn't drill the pilot hole deep enough in red oak.

30 year old balusters were wobbly and made whole railing system feel unsafe. These brackets and molding were really easy to install and have now saved the whole staircase railing from having to be removed and replaced. Definitely recommended.

It was perfect to fix the loose stair railing. Really easy to install. Just a little small but was able to fill in the space but you can’t even tell it’s small.
