Bought this kit to install new battery in my Garmin. Went great. The only thing was that they should have included a means to secure the battery inside of the Garmin case. Thus, it rattles around a bit. So far the battery seems to doing just fine.

Product and tools worked fine. Speaker wire not covered, but with wife's help, another pair of hands got the battery installed. GPS system works fine.

The battery replacement kit worked, but only partically. First, as another reviewer mentioned, the torx screwdriver was not the right size for the Garmin DriveSmart 50 as claimed. What I got was a torx # 4, what was needed was a torx # 5. I ordered a torx screwdriver set at the same time that I was able to complete the job without damaging the screws. The CD that explained the replacement process was not needed, since the video is available in YouTube. The plastic tool for opening the DriveSmart was mostly auxiliary, a sharp edge screwdriver was necessary to start the opening. The plastic tool helped to fully open it. The battery seems to work well and the GPS was resuscitated. The battery says to be 1100mA-hours instead of 570mA-hours that the original was. I hope it holds the charge well. With all that I said, the $40 + shipping for this product seems overpriced. There are other options in the internet that apparently the same battery goes for less that $ 10. The only reason I ordered from this seller was that it was the only one that claimed it is appropriate for the DriveSmart 50. The other ones look the same, but I was not sure the plug was the same.

This item is overpriced for the contents and instructions are inadequate: 1. The T-4 screwdriver did not grip the star screws (Had to buy a quality one). 2. The instructions did not show the location of the tabs that lock the case together. 3. The pry tool was ineffective at releasing the tabs (Fingernails and butter knife were more effective). The kit does not include double sided tape to secure the battery to the case. There are more detailed instructions from others on-line which include the risk of damaging cable and wires and how to avoide such damage (This would have been helpful.). I received this on 6/15/2021 and am curious about the battery charging ability and life.

Battery is fine seems to hold charge, will see in a few weeks how long it remains charged. However the tool that came to open the case of the sat nav was too small. Had to use another tool from another company to complete the repair.

1 Star because: Battery is probably good, time will tell, but the include Torx tool is CRAP. It is now installed and working (after full charge lasted 1:20 hour before Low Battery alert comes on). The kit is the problem – the Torx 4 tool is CRAP and the head will strip and very possibly stripping the screw heads as well making it very very difficult to remove the lid of the GPS. I got a decent Craftsman precision tool kit that included a T-4 bit from Lowe’s for $8 and that worked (and is a nifty little kit - pictured) I used their online installation video, which wasn’t exactly accurate as there is an additional pair of wires between the two pieces and you can only hold them at a 90 degree angle. Makes it a bit more difficult to install the battery connecting wire, but it can be done. Just use caution, get a GOOD T-4 driver. If they had spent another buck or two and included a decent T-4, I might have given it 5 stars. As it is, if you are not careful using the tool that comes with it, you can screw up the GPS from being able to change batteries.

Just installed this battery within the last couple of weeks. I really haven't given it a big road trip yet. Seems to hold it's charge fairly well. Installation was pretty straight forward. I used a You Tube video rather than the dvd that came with the battery. The process went so well that my husband ordered one for his mom's gps.

der Akku passt leider nicht in das DriveSmart 50 LMT, er ist zu lang. Das angebrachte Kabel müsste zu stark geknickt werden, um den Akku irgendwie an den vorgesehenen Platz zu bekommen. Geht deshalb zurück. Schade.

The battery in my Drivesmart 50 kept losing its charge. This product seemed the best so I thought I'd give it a try.Package was delivered in time. Came with two tool: torx driver and a pry bar. Also came with a how-to dvd but I found one online which for me was easier. It didn't come in a box which was disconcerting. Like it was used.Installation is pretty straightforward but not quite as easy as in the video. Without the video I likely would have broken the case before I got it open. It's not obvious.The two halves of the case were well sealed and I couldn't get the pry bar between them. Ended up using a pen knife to get them far enough apart to insert the bar. This took the longest amount of time.In the next part, I have, unlike the video, a mike cable which made it difficult to lay both sides flat.The battery didn't come out as easily as in the video. Turns out it was held in place with double sided tape. I ended up using the pen knife again.Once out, replacement was easy with a perfect fit.Haven't had it long enough to assess the battery itself. Will post an update if it goes south.

Les + :les outils sont fournis avec un CD Rom pour les explications et c’est facile de faire la manip !Les - :Une fois installée conformément aux instructions, la pile ne s'est pas mise à charger ...j'ai eu beau utiliser plusieurs câbles USB différents, rien n'y fait !je me suis donc résolu à tout renvoyer, donc expérience plutôt négative.
