I was really hoping to have some video and photos ready for this review but no such luck. What I was not aware of when I ordered this camera is that if your phone does not have an "On the go" setting, you're out of luck. My phone, which is a 2 year old Motorola does not have such a setting and there is no way for me to upgrade the phone. That means that this Thermal camera is useless for me unless I go out and upgrade my phone. I really didn't want to be forced into spending a thousand dollars just to use a $300 camera that I might use once or twice a year. Judging by some of the other reviews I have read (all of which were published AFTER I ordered this camera), I won't be spending that money unless I my current phone up and dies completely on me. Had I been aware that this camera needed a very specific setting that neither phone in my household has, I would not have ordered this thing. It's odd because I do have a thermal camera made by FLIR and that works with no problem with my current phone. In short, before you spend 3 bills on this thing MAKE SURE your phone has the OTG setting....otherwise, don't order this.Revised my original review to 1 star.

This little thermal camera is pretty awesome, it far surpassed my expectations once I got one that worked. The first one I received was dead on arrival, at first I thought my phone was the issue so I tried it on two other Android phones with the same result. No matter what I tried, the camera wouldn't connect with the app, so finally I just had to accept that the camera was faulty. I submitted a replacement request through Amazon, and the new one arrived two days later. The app recognized this one within a few seconds of plugging it in, then I was up and running! I first tested it out in my house, and was amazed how sensitive it was to heat signatures. I placed my hand on the wall for a few seconds, and when I looked at the spot where my hand had been with the thermal camera it clearly showed my handprint. Then I looked down at the wood floor and was able see the barefoot tracks of where my kids had walked by a couple minutes before, it even picked up the latent heat signature from where the cat had walked! As impressed as I was by all this, I just had to see how well it worked at night. Once it got good and dark I took it outside and was able to see the heat signatures of flocks of geese flying high in the sky, even though they were completely invisible to the naked eye. And when I tested out the different color options I found that the "black hot" mode turned night into day (although in black & white). It was like watching an old black & white TV show, I could make out every detail clear as day. Needless to say I am a huge fan of this thermal camera, and would absolutely recommend to anyone!

This IR camera was easy to start using (Download APP then plug and play). The software was easy to figure out and pretty user friendly. I did figure out that I couldn't plug it straight into my phone and use it because the USB-C connector wasn't long enough to use with my OtterBox phone case. However, the camera comes with a nice hand-held camera/phone holder and a short USB extension cable that makes using it a snap and allows for easy operation. I included a sampling of photos to show a few of the different modes available. The camera itself seems very sturdy and well-made. It comes in a nice case that holds the camera and all accessories. I have a lot of wildlife in the field and thicket behind my house and look forward to seeing what I can spot with this once the temperature climbs out of the single digits.

This thermal imaging device has surprising capability for such a small device. After installing NOYAFA NF-588E and then opening the app in my Android device activates the thermal display capability. When the NF-588 is plugged into the USB-C port of a mobile device you will be prompted to allow the device access to the system.A durable carrying/storage case is included allowing safe storage. The IR device features a USB-C plug. One of the photos that I included are of a mountain that is almost 2 miles from where I took the picture, the mountain is very rocky and exhibited a thermal signature very well even though the photo was taken a few hours after sundown. The GPS, Compass, and Language features are set/enabled in Settings. The various features are easily accessed while viewing the thermal camera app from the Left & Right sides of the GUI.In example color pallets can be quickly changed, Temperature Tracking can be enabled, Photo & Video capture can be done.- The User Manual exhibits these features very well.My FindingsOnce in a while I would notice the screen would lag a wee bit when changing scenes, but it was not a regular occurring issue.Overall I am pleased with the capability and features of the economically priced NF-588, I have been looking for a thermal device that was compatible with my Android and THIS IS IT!

While I fully appreciate the technology getting smaller and cheaper, this one just isn't quite there yet. The range isn't as accurate as described (objects need to be closer than you think) and the picture quality isn't as great as I would've hoped, based on the pictures. That being said, you can still tell if an animal is a deer or a hog or whatever; so I guess it does have some utility.Personally, I had hopes for this during low-light environments, but it doesn't have the utility of a thermal scope, because it's on your phone. I suppose if you're hunting with a partner, they can look through their phone using this camera while the shooter can look through their thermal scope and take the shot.I will freely admit that there are plenty of other uses for a thermal camera (tracing water damage in a home, for example), but I don't have enough experience in that field to make an informed opinion on it.
