Tried this NICREW NavaReef 135 on my LPS/SPS system, curious if a budget fixture could hold up. Setup was painless and the built-in timer makes scheduling easy. The blue-focused spectrum really pops corals, especially zoas and acans. PAR readings are solid for a fixture at this price, though you won’t get the spread of a Radion or Kessil. No major heating issues even after 10 hours of runtime.Pros:Affordable, bright, and surprisingly full-featured for entry-level reefers. Great for nano to midsize tanks. Built-in timer and easy mounting bracket.Cons:Fan noise is noticeable in a quiet room. No app or remote control—everything’s on the unit.Final thoughts:Perfect upgrade for beginner to intermediate reefers who want solid light on a budget. Just be aware of the manual controls.

The NICREW NavaReef 65 LED light is an excellent choice for reef aquarium enthusiasts, offering a powerful 65W output tailored for soft and LPS corals as well as saltwater fish. The blue-focused spectrum enhances coral coloration and promotes healthy growth. Its built-in timer is convenient, allowing easy customization of light cycles without extra equipment. Installation is simple, and the light is energy-efficient with minimal heat output. While it covers small to medium tanks well, it might not be strong enough for larger or SPS-heavy setups. Overall, it’s a reliable, user-friendly lighting solution for most reef hobbyists.

This light is quite impressive. It is super bright. I have not taken PAR readings yet because the tank does not have water at this time, but the light is substantially brighter than my current, similarly priced bluetooth controlled light on my main tank. It would be nice if this could be controlled remotely through bluetooth or wifi, but I guess you trade controllability for power and performance. Without the controller, which is sold separately, it has very little customization and can only be set to one of 7 preset color profiles (one of which is green/red and not at all useful for a reef tank). You can have it turn on at a certain time and stay on for a specified length of time, but this does not save after a power outage and there does not appear to be a clock built in to the device. If you want a sleek and compact light with high output but limited customization, which might be a great option for you. While it lacks many of the features of other higher end lights, this is a good value/budget reef light with very high output, and it is one of the better lower end LEDs I have used.

This is a great coral light! I just about blinded myself when I plugged it in, as it was full power, and on! They are so bright, and are fully adjustable for your tank needs. It's a heavy housing, comes with 2 different sized mounting brackets, and the power supply for it is a brick (like a laptop). It has a built-in cooling fan, and it is definitely necessary because as soon as you turn it on, it puts off huge amounts of heat. This will warm your surface water, so adjust accordingly for your coral depth. I would get the smaller option for nano tanks, as I think this one will be a bit much for anything under 60 gallons. It is not remote control, as you have to adjust on the unit itself. I think for the function, this will make a really nice light at a decent price.

I've got 2 other nicrew gen 1 lights, and a few of their smaller, nano offerings as well. I'm a fan of the nicrew gen 1 lights and when I saw this I thought I'd give it a go. I don't have it hooked up to a controller yet as I'm waiting for a cable to come in. My plan is to daisy chain it to my other two nicrews which are being controlled via an Apex. I've also used the Nicrew controller and a Kessil SpectralX controller to operate the Nicrews. The light is nice and sturdy. It fells well made. The pre-set color options are nice and easy to cycle through. The intensity is easy to adjust as well. So far I've had no issues. The color matches up well with my other nicrews. I'm contemplating adding a new Nicrew lighting controller to this system and keeping it offline from Apex. Haven't quite made up my mind on that. The fit and finish are nice. The supplied arm was easy to install and I was even able to get it to clear the frame of a 28G Aqueon lowboy, that has the plastic frame around the edge. Most modern lighting supports seem like they only work on rimless tanks, but this one works in either application so I'm very happy about that. The spread is nice and this thing puts out monster PAR for the price point (and my application on smaller tanks). I keep both derasa (no big deal), and maxima clams under this nicrew and I don't worry in the slightest that they aren't getting the par they need. In fact, I worried that I'll burn them and I have to keep it turned down a few notches until they acclimate.Super light at a good price.
