I broke the original and purchased this as a replacement. If you don't care about the "Nikon" name, you can purchase a different brand on Amazon for much less money.

I have lost the hood that comes with the lens due to the incorrect attachment. This is the replacement for that. Fits tightly if you apply a little more pressure when the hood stops.

I broke my last HB-46 when I dropped my camera in the street - luckily it landed on the hood, so the camera remained unscathed! Probably no need to go for a genuine Nikon product when it comes to lens hoods but I did and I have seen some reviews of non-genuine products fitting poorly anyway. It fits and it's well made - nothing more to say!

Envoi rapide et soigné. Produit impeccable. Article de qualité s'intégrant parfaitement à l'objectif (qui entre parenthèse est incroyable :D). Livré d'origine avec l'objectif, mais je l'ai perdu en voyage. Difficile de s'en passer donc j'en ai commandé tout de suite un nouveau.

The hood keeps glare out well and can be put the opposite way on the lens when the camera is placed in a bag. My first HB-46 came with my 35mm f/1.8G AF-S DX which fell into a lake when I was taking some shots. I thought the hood fit too loosely on the mount, but I was unaware that it locked into place after the hood is twisted a bit more after it stops (I figured this out after ordering the second one).
