With several family members involved in music, I've bought quite a few music stand over the years. There are a bunch that are sold here on Amazon that appear to pretty much identical to each other, sold under different brand names... they are the ones where the top "desk" portion is easily removable from the lower "stand" portion, with a somewhat v-shaped male "plug" that fits into a female "receptacle".I've owned several of those, and they've had this attachment mechanism fail under the strain of being moved around, put in the back of the car, etc. In contrast, however, this Nomad stand is built differently... the top and bottom sections are not easily separated, but that's ok, because I don't WANT to separate them anyway. The result is that this stand is much sturdier, after a year of two of them being moved around once or twice a week, they've held up just fine.Just bought another one just to have as a spare, and to keep in the room where I practice.

It is a good stand, it is very durable and not flimsy at all, however I wish there were arms to hold the paper onto stand itself like other stands. I had no problems until a screw at the bottom of the stand suddenly broke in half and I had to replace it my self with a spare nut and bolt.

loved this music stand had a similar stand from them and it was very well worth the money. The metal they use is top grade for music stand and won't slip like the cheap competitors. I have had several of the other brands and they just don't work. For something engineered by hercules it is dang good.
