I have a young service dog in training that needs to learn to wear boots so he can work in public after the pavement starts getting hot this summer, but going from barefoot to protective boots with stiff soles can be hard for a dog to adapt to at first.I prefer to start with something like this that’s more flexible. These are also knit, so there’s a little stretch to help with fit.Every dog I’ve ever trained to socks/shoes/boots high steps for a bit as they adjust to the feel but if you distract the pup and leave the socks in place for an hour or so, they’ll generally be fine and walking normally by the end. A few more sessions and they usually accept them fully.

Our dog had a little run in with some moving bicycle spokes and cut up her front paws to the point of having to go to the vet. Unfortunately the wounds were on skin patches that could not be stitched up. So the cuts have had to heal very slowly the natural way...which means our dog often tries to lick the wounds. To prevent this we were using the vet provided "cone of shame" but quickly discovered Binky could sometimes circumvent the cone and reach the wounds to lick. So we ordered these dog socks and they have proven to be quite effective. The Velcro strap near the top of the sock seems to be the key element in keeping the socks secure and in the proper position. Note, we still have to keep the cone in place but the combination of the cone and the sock have totally eliminated licking and allowed the wounds to heal without being disrupted. As a side note, Binky continues to be 100% active with the sock on her paw and the socks have been surprisingly durable. We thought they might wear out quite quickly with a lot of activity but they have proven otherwise.

My dog kept obsessively licking his paws. I was concerned he would lick them raw before we could get a handle on what’s causing it. These socks are fantastic for protecting his paws from overlicking. I appreciate the anti-skid hearts so he can still get traction on our floors. He’s normally a magician at getting shoes off or bites at shoes. These socks don’t bother him nearly as much. They are a great value, fit well, and seem durable for their purpose.

I primarily got these for an upcoming trip to the Grand Canyon, so my dog's paws didn't get to hot. After trying them on her I realized that she will not keep them on. I tried placing the velcroe snuggly, but she still got them off. I wouldn't recommend any tighter, as I tried this for a couple of hours and her paw/foot swole up.

These are great for indoor use - really help prevent slipping for our elderly dog.The only downside is that they are not very durable. Even as a primarily inside item, they wear holes in them very quickly, which can end up being an expensive tool - however we have tried the "fancier" name brand socks - and while the more expensive brands are a little bit thicker, they don't seem to last any longer. The thinner material on these actually make it a little easier to put on.They work, but they don't last long. Our dog doesn't seem to mind having them on her feet and the really do help with traction indoors on our hard wood floors.

These are nice socks for my elderly dog. Dogs when they get older, the pads on their paws start to dry out, giving them less traction on slippery surfaces. The traction pads on these socks, which are conveniently placed on two sides of the socks, help her get around, though I found for my dog, I just needed them on her back paws.My dog does not like things on her feet, so getting socks on and off of her is a challenge. That's an issue with my dog, not the socks. To keep the socks on her securely, I have to use the hook-and-loop band to hold them tight. However, when trying to remove them, it can be difficult to find the beginning of the black strap against the black sock background.

I bought these for my mini schnauzer, who’s on the smaller side of medium, and the medium size fit her perfectly. She adjusted to them quickly—after about a day, she was running around like normal. We have a gravel backyard, and I wanted something soft but effective to protect her paws without making her feel restricted. We’ve tried more structured dog "shoes" before, but she would just freeze and give us the saddest stare. These, however, she actually tolerates—and even seems comfortable in. They’ve stayed on well and haven’t slipped off while she’s active.I haven't washed it yet, but it seems very durable.
