The skirt is cute, got it for my six year old granddaughter. It’s a thinner, lightweight t-shirt material. She usually wears a size seven and that’s what I got her, the size 7-8. It fits her fine now but does have an elastic waist. The skirt is pretty short in the front but I plan to have her wear it with leggings. She’s been taking dance for several years now and was thrilled to get her “twirl” skirt!

My youngest daughter is a pink lover who is constantly twirling in one thing or another so when I saw this skirt, I thought it would be perfect for her. Definitely the right move!The skirt is made from what I would consider to be a t-shirt fabric. There’s nothing super extraordinary about it, but it’s definitely the type of material that will be uber soft after a wash. It’s not rough or scratchy, nothing bad, it just isn’t impressively soft right when you get it. That’s not the highlight of the dress, but it’s worth noting.The hem is fun and unique. On my (average sized) 8 year old, the 11/12 fit great on the waist- it was a perfect fit, actually, no stretch, no slipping down her hips. The length: about mid-thigh for the shorter areas, just below the knee for the longer areas. So I do think I would suggest sizing up.My daughter wears a lot of skirts- she loves wearing them alone but also over leggings, and I kind of envisioned that these would go over leggings. When I asked her to try on the skirt, that’s exactly what she did- threw it over a pair of leggings. It could also be worn with a pair of shorts underneath if your little one is going to twirl.It does twirl really nicely. I do think it could possibly do better if it were made from a more flowy fabric, but for a little girl who loves to twirl, that’s no dealbreaker. It twirls just fine and it looks lovely.For the price, this is a really cute skirt in a great color with some flair, and during a time when kids are starting to individuate, it makes a great personality piece. It’s absolutely adorable and my daughter is super happy with it- and so am I!
