I use a rubber mallet with it. It does take a few wacks. I've used it with lava lamps and beer bottles, and it creates a perfect seal. Would recommend.

The only way I’ve gotten this thing to bottle is to take the capper off the handle and installing it in the chuck of a drill press and just press down on the press with the bottle underneath. Otherwise I just busted the bottle/didn’t seal the caps. Skill issue ig

Okay. So I purchased one of these W - shaped bottle cappers to cap my lava lamps with, and it worked for a while. But then, it didn't. I didn't want invest in the $100 variety, and a Lava enthusiast recommended this one to me. My only complaint is that you should sold with a small rubber mallet, because that is what is required to use it effectively. I had to buy at Walmart. But with the mallet and the capper, I have managed to successful cap 3 bottles without any leakage. And whether that be beer, or lava lamps, that's exactly what you want.

I use this as I commonly tinker with Lava Lamps and I frequently need to re-cap the tops with new bottle caps. It works as you would expect it to.

This product served my purpose of capping champagne bottles too tall for my tabletop-single-lever-arm capping machine. If you have one of the 2-arm cappers, you will not need this product, but in my experience, the 2-arm cappers are very problematic for a number of reasons, and I will not use them. This product is sort a Mountain-man or survivalist solution, as it really lacks any elegance, but it gets the job done. In actual practice, I found it very difficult to get the caps on straight and seal properly - I burned through a bunch of caps on a learning curve. For me, I had 5 champagne bottles to cap, so this product fit the bill. My recommendation for a 5 gallon batch of beer - 48 bottles - get a table top capper. If you use a 2-arm capper to solve the bottle height issue, you will soon find out how bad they are. I'll definitely use this again next time I make a small batch of champagne.
