The motor in my bathroom exhaust fan gave up the ghost and I ordered this motor and fan assembly as it was listed as the replacement. It was the proper replacement but the fan was out of round and was also out of true in its alignment with the axle. This meant the fan would not turn in the enclosure and would also rub against the mounting bracket when trying to spin. As the fan was unusable I had to replace it with the fan from the old assembly – if I had known better than to buy the assembly as a whole I could have saved some bucks and purchased only the motor. Whether the problem with the fan was because of poor quality control, poor storage (my best guess) or poor packaging and shipping, the end result was that the assembly as a whole was unfit for purpose. The motor however works fine and that should be expected.

I had what appeared to be a very old NuTone 9427 ceiling bathroom twin-bulb heater/exhaust fan. Over time the exhaust fan noise grew louder during operation until finally it would fail to spin and make a loud grinding noise. Looking around I decided based on reviews to choose this part as a replacement motor since the reviews for newer models didn't look great. I immediately had to make a modification by rotating the bracket in order to align properly inside the unit. Once installed, this motor did not immediately work. The fan blade is closer to the motor compared to the original, and it was rubbing against the sides of the exhaust port. Other reviewers mentioned using washers to extend the motor away from the bracket. Using three washers for each screw on the bracket worked.I'm leading three stars for this product for a couple reasons. First, the additional modifications required in order for it to work. Two, the fan blade is of low quality and although it works it wobbles. Third, the price that the retailer charges for this part is ridiculous. Now that I've had the motor and I was able to compare it to the original, there are other options available through Amazon that range below $40 and would work in this unit with similar modifications.

First, amazing that a design this old can still be obtained.Pay attention to the orientation of the bracket. Mine was 180 degrees out and cord was a little tight.Pay attention to the dimension between the bracket and the air wheel. The wheel is just a pressure fit on the shaft and can be moved along the shaft a bit. Mine interfered with the back side of the fixture and the fan would not run. I moved the wheel a smige toward the end of the shaft and everything was fine. The only thing left to do is to lightly sand the 2-bulb cover and spray paint it white to have a new looking and running fixture.Highly recommend this upgrade. Much quieter, spins right up and an easy two screw install.

Unit looks OK but the fan is warped and rubs against the bracket. Returned, hoping to get an un-warped fan. Apparently there is a workaround by adding washers to the motor mount to create some clearance between fan and bracket. I'll try that if the replacement fan is also warped.

For the exorbitantly high price one would expect a well built drop in replacement, but this is not. The fan blades are so poorly shoved onto the drive shaft and mis-aligned that you will likely need to use the original fan blades. The mounting bracket seems to be for a different enclosure, and does not properly fit, so hopefully the original bracket is still available. All in all, it would have probably saved time if they just shipped the motor, as you will need to still use your existing parts. Not a problem if they charged appropriately, but obviously the manufacturer/seller realized they are the only source and want their pound or two of flesh.

Looks to be same motor and mount but I had to a few minor mods in the bracket, impeller and bend the housing opening a bit. Once I finished, unit works like original. Now I have a working exhaust fan. My guess is each housing is a bit different. Nice to know such an old unit is still available.

The motor fit well and went in easy - unlike some other reviewers stated. No motor shimming or problems with the cord being too short. The only thing is that this common older NuTone fan and housing design is pretty flimsy overall, hence it is prone to vibration/noise. But this new fan was the easiest solution and took care of the ventilation problem quickly.

Ran into the same issue as described in other reviews. The fan was not perfectly round and rubbed against the provided bracket. Even after bending the bracket a bit, there was still contact. I replaced with my original cage and bracket. Motor is strong but sounds louder than the original. Bought used but still pricey.
