I've made several batches of beef jerky and one of dried apples and worked fantastic. It's very quiet. I run the stove hood vent when the beef jerky is being made so the whole house doesn't smell like it and it is much noisier than the dehydrator. The door closes and is secure with a magnet yet easy to open without moving the unit. Has handholds for each side and easy to carry and move around. Not very heavy so I will probably put it away once I'm done with the majority of my dehydrating. Or not. It's really a nice looking appliance. I got the white one to match my other appliances.

My new dehydrator! 😃I like it because It's 900 watts, has 10 stainless steel trays (but you can order plastic ones if that's what you like), and it's a little cheaper than an Excalibur. So far I really like it, but I'll be sure to do a full review after a couple of weeks of use. 😃💙🌻Micro farms are the future of farming! What can we make on my future 1 acre farm!😃💙🌻So far...Pros:1. Packed very well. You shouldn't have to worry about it arriving broke.2. Super sturdy dehydrator. Doesn't feel cheap at all.3. The cord is nice and long.4. It looks great and is easy to clean.5. The old reviews say the trays don't fit. That problem must have been fixed because my trays fit perfectly.6. I like that I can open the door at anytime and add or remove trays at different times and it doesn't reset the time or turn off. I like this because I can dehydrate different things that require different times without worrying about resetting the time.7. Plenty of trays and room for lots of food.8. The range of temperatures is fantastic. I really like how low and high the temperature goes.9. I love that it's 900 watts. Food is dehydrated quicker.10. It's super quiet. Like really, really quiet. No buzzers at all.11. The trays are super easy to clean. Most food doesn't even stick to them at all. Even though you can wash the trays in the dishwasher.. Hand washing is a breeze.12. This dehydrator is perfect for my needs. Set it and forget it type of dehydrator. Nothing too fancy, but fancy enough to get the job done.Con:1. I'm not sure if this is the same for all nicer dehydrators, but it's not truly off unless it's unplugged. --- I really need to investigate this. Maybe all dehydrators are like this. For instance, our air fryer turns off completely when it's done. No lights at all. This one doesn't do that. --- This would be irritating if it was in a place where the plug wasn't easily accessible. I need to dig deeper into this to see if this is something normal for this style of dehydrator.2. There is no pause button. Either you open the door while it's running or you have to turn it completely off. Again, not a reason to return it, but I can see this becoming an issue in the future when I want to check the progress of large amounts of food. But I don't see it being an issue for normal use.3. One big manufacturer flaw, which, if fixed, could make the company more money, is the lack of small hole steel trays. They provide one plastic tray that has small holes, but it's smaller than the metal trays, so you lose space. Plus, acidic fruits and vegetables (like tomatoes) stain the plastic. I would like for the manufacturer to create small holed stainless steel trays to purchase as an expansion pack and instead of the plastic tray (which only works when on top of the metal tray), include another stainless steel tray with smaller holes and a stainless steel drip pan that actually fits the rails.4. When turned on, it always starts at 10 hours. I haven't found a way to change that. It's not a huge issue, it's just an inconvenience. I do wish it wouldn't do this.5. The buttons are sometimes frustrating. But again, just something new to get used to. It's aggravating, but not aggravating enough to return the product. I'll totally get used to it, and I'm sure I won't even notice in a few months.6. As many other reviews have pointed out, the product manual translation is sometimes horrible. But, come on. Most product translations are horrible. Sure, it's a pain, but this isn't the first product I've ordered that came with funny translations. There are many different types of dehydrators out there, and many of them are way more expensive. For me, and my needs, I'm willing to accept the few cons for the 900 watts and the price of this dehydrator. At this point, it fits my needs.Remember, price vs perfection. If you want a more perfect dehydrator, you'll need to pay more.I've included the cons so you can choose wisely for your needs, but the cons are not enough for me to return the product.

I've been through three different dehydrators and this is the best one by far! The temperature readings are spot on which is necessary for food safety and is quieter than most dehydrators I've seen!

I bought 3 of these units last year, two for gifts, and one for me. I was originally very impressed with the unit that I used for hundreds of hours over the 13 months that I owned it. However, about 6 weeks ago, I was drying my last batch of a bushel and a half of apples. I had checked on the unit numerous times through the process and during my final check, there was 20 minutes left in the cycle. 20 mins later, I heard one chime indicating the cycle was completed. When the cycle completes, it chimes a half dozen times or more, so I went in to check. My display was completely black, and the unit was radiating a lot of heat, and I immediately unplugged it and opened the door. My drying temp was 135 degrees, the unit had to be over 200 degrees. It had overheated and fried the display. I contacted the customer service dept at the company, explaining what had happened and recommended that they send a box to me to send the unit back so they could determine what had occurred and correct the problem going forward. I also requested a replacement, (which I figured would be denied). I had numerous email exchanges with them, all generated from me, with their replies being that they had elevated the issue to management and their tech support. For the last 3 weeks, sent them nothing and heard nothing. Sent another email yesterday and have heard nothing back. As I said, I have used this for hundreds of hours, many times letting it run while I was away on errands or many times went to bed while it ran. In my opinion, this dehydrator has a quality or design problem that could cause it to overheat possibly catching fire. I would recommend researching other manufacturers of dehydrators. (On another note, the first unit I bought as a gift 2 months prior to buying mine had a few parts of the LED display burn out. you could still interpret the display, but they shouldn't have burned out in 4 months). Given the poor response from the company over this potential safety issue, I would NOT buy anything from the Nutrichef company.

First attempt to make jerky with it. Temp was a little finicky.( I was running a digital thermostat during the whole cooking time) I removed the meat from the refrigerator 3 hrs. before putting on the trays. I only had about 2 lbs. of jerky meat so it took 5 trays and I spaced them every other space. I set the temp for 170 (max) but it never reached 170. When I first got the unit I put my thermostat in and it actually got up to 182 so I was pretty stoked. As the meat dried out, the temp did go up, and eventually made it to 170 and I backed it down to 165 which for my liking is the happy spot. It dropped a couple of degrees below 165 when I had it set at 165 but overall, it held steady. 2nd batch coming up this week. going for 3 lbs. @ 170 for 2 hrs than dropping down to 165 for the final 3 hrs. SET A DIFFERENT TIMER!!! The one that goes off after the cooking cycle is LAME, If you are doing ANYTHING, you won't hear it!!!
