I think everyone who owns a car should have one of these. Within a couple of minutes of opening the box I knew exactly why the check engine light was one. I knew already I was getting a cylinder misfire but now I know that it's cylinder seven causing the problem. I didn't read instructions or anything, just plugged it into the OBD2 port and start the engine.

This is a nice, quick, basic OBD tool. Once connected, it scans the vehicle quickly and can show information about the vehicle and active diagnostic codes. You can use it to clear the codes codes after fixing the indicated problems. This shows live data while running so you can monitor the vehicle while running. Many of the items it displays are named or abbreviated differently than I would expect. One of the vehicles I tried this on should have come uncleared but inactive DTCs which this unit does not show. I have an ELM which, with Forscan, gives me a ton more power on my Fords and even has more capabilities then this one with other software on other vehicles. Although this is lacking some functionality and misses some codes, it is a nice quick tool and pretty easy to use. This should usually get you close, but if you are unable to diagnose an issue with this, you should run over to the parts store and use their higher end units to pull all codes.

Was having some car issues and needed to understand the codes pick this item up. It is very easy to use. Show it to a friend of mine who is a mechanic. I was pretty impressed for something that was purchased online easy to read very simple to understand and use.

As the headline states: As much as I like my Bluetooth OBD2 Scanners - I like having a separate tool.I own a number of Bluetooth OBD2 Scanners on my iPhone. All work well but I like the simplicity of a standalone device. One of the biggest issues I have with Bluetooth OBD2 software is usually the interface is overly designed and not very intuitive. It can take forever to find your way around the software. Enter this OBD2 Scanner with Battery Tester. Simple to use, everything is at your fingertips. The two nicest features are the Battery Tester and measuring the alternator current. I have 2003 pickup with a 5 year old battery and the original alternator. It's nice being able to monitor both for a peace of mind. The scanner has so many other features that for the price it's an amazing deal.
