I purchased this Oberon Design checkbook plus one other one that has a different design and color. The craftsmanship and detail are excellent, and both checkbooks are beautiful. I am regretfully knocking off one star from the overall rating because these checkbook covers are just a wee bit small, making for a tight fit.I bought these checkbook covers as an upgrade from the typical vinyl checkbook covers I had been using for years, which were originally provided for free by the banks with whom I had opened those checking accounts. The checkbooks and check registers in question are standard-sized items from Deluxe check printers, and although I was able to transfer them into these Oberon embossed leather checkbook covers, I had to struggle a bit to fit them inside.The new Oberon checkbook covers include a very nice, thick flap for use with duplicate checks, to prevent the impression of your pen from also marking the next check in the book — but the flap and the checkbook cover itself are just a little too small for an ideal fit. What I mean is that with the flap inserted as a separator between the top-most duplicate check and the next one in the book, the flap bulges out and prevents the checkbook cover from closing fully. Fortunately, I already had a couple of inexpensive clear vinyl check separator flaps that I was able to insert, which are large enough to not cause the same problem.Furthermore, with the check register booklet inserted in the upper flap, each of these Oberon checkbook covers will bulge open by a slight amount rather than lying flat when closed.Despite this small problem, I am going to keep both of these Oberon embossed leather checkbook covers because (again) they are very nice, good looking, and well made. My hope is that because they are made of genuine leather (ACTUAL leather, unlike some synthetic "leather" checkbook covers I have seen elsewhere on Amazon), perhaps they will gradually stretch a bit, resulting in a more relaxed fit instead of bulging open as though they have been stuffed with overly thick checkbooks and registers.I would suggest to Oberon that they really should increase the size of these checkbook covers and their built-in separator flaps by a small amount so that all standard-sized checkbooks and check registers will fit neatly in these beautiful checkbook covers without requiring the purchaser to struggle with inserting them, or to live with the inability of the checkbook cover to lay flat when closed. Maybe even just a size increase of a quarter of an inch would do the trick.

Needed to replace an old generic leather cover purchased from a prominent check company years ago. We use duplicate checks, and the cheap plastic flap sewn into the old one had all but ripped out. We do not frequently use checks and do not carry the checkbook as a wallet. No one carries and writes paper checks anymore so, ID and credit cards are better in a real wallet. We have no need for credit card slots or an ID window. This book is great! The leatherwork is very nice. It has a leather flap for the duplicate check backing. It is nice and slim because it does not have the useless ID window/credit card slot stuff. I would definitely buy again and highly recommend.

This is, without a doubt, the nicest checkbook cover I’ve ever had. I’d even go as far as to say it’s nicer than any wallet or similar leather item I’ve ever had...except for a business card keeper made by, you guessed it, Oberon. That one is still perfect, and I’ve had it for at least 15 years. I know this one will measure up, as well.And the design... fantastic. If I’m honest, it matches my tattoos, but that’s for another review, right?Oberon’s quality is top notch. It’s not some thin, bendy, questionable cut of leather, it’s quite thick and durable. It came to me looking and feeling perfect, and they included an info sheet on how to keep the leather in great shape.I know we’ve become a credit card world, but this cover makes me want to start writing checks again!Guess I’d better pick out a new Oberon wallet or phone case or something...
