This starter solved a lot of issues I was unaware that a starter might cause. My old starter was slow and wouldn’t generate enough spark to fire up the mower. Starts right up now.

Fits my John Deere Z445 with 25 hp Kawasaki engine. One mounting hole had a small burr that had to be filed off, but that was no big deal. Changing was a real pain, but no fault to the starter. Works fine and solved my problem. Mowing season is over now, so it won’t get a real trial until next year. Great price for a starter, just hope it lasts.

I didn’t like that the gear on the starter was plastic. The starter was cheaply made but as it stands it was very inexpensive and it is working for the time being on my Snapper Zero turn mower. I do however feel that I got my money’s worth.Thank you for an inexpensive alternative.

I have a 2009 Snapper zero-turn mower and apparently the last time I used it the old starter gear went up the spindle and didn't come down again. This caused the starter to burn up the brushes and fail. I purchased this one as a replacement for my Kawasaki FH641V engine which powers the mower. The first one arrived and the gear would not climb the spindle. Sent it back and got another. This one worked. In fact it spins faster than the original one, though that one was likely worn due to age. Tap the starter and the engine is running. I have had it for a few months now and have had NO ISSUES with it.The seller was great as well. I returned the first starter to UPS and it showed up on my doorstep the very next day. Due to this, Amazon thought it was not being returned and cancelled my refund. I contacted the seller and explained the UPS issue and the seller got things straightened out for me. The seller, OEG Parts, was great and would recommend purchasing through them.As for my ratings, the starter motor was worth four stars easily, but the way that OEG Parts stepped in after the UPS fiasco earned the fifth. I only gave the starter three stars for ease of installation due to the design of both my mower and placement of the engine on the mower making it VERY difficult to reach the starter-bolts. You also have to thread them back in without being able to see or feel for the holes. The other option is to remove the engine from the mower just to change the starter. Kind of crazy.Oh and the value was nice. Kawasaki wanted over $200 for the starter-motor from them. It looked identical so if this one, $60 at the time of purchase, lasts five or six years I made out like a bandit.
