Magnet could be a little stronger, but for a dozen or so cook books in a restaurant kitchen this works.

The "magnet" on the bottom of these is "glued" on, but poorly glued on. When you put it on a shelf and then pick it up, the magnet pulls away from the bookend. I bought two sets, and in one set, one of the bookends didn't even have a magnet. So, out of two sets, but got 1 "good" set, and I use that term "good" loosely. Now I'll have to get some heavy duty glue to make the magnet stick to the metal bookend.

OMG y'all, these are HUGE* (that's a family size box of cereal in the pic)! But that's fine—embrace their magnificence!Magnets are strong enough to stay put, but still allow easy repositioning. Perfect small-kitchen solution for corralling cookbooks and cereal on top of a microwave (too bad my actual bookshelves aren't metal!).The bookends themselves seem quite sturdy, and the machining and finish is very nice. I like the cut-out design: if your books are leaning and you want to straighten them, you can poke a hand through.Overall, 10/10—a perfect fit for my purposes.*Full disclosure: I liked the design and didn't even look at the measurements before I ordered these, so I was SHOOK ^-^' But in a good way!

We purchased these bookends to see if they could help with our sliding book problem in the library. I was initially drawn to them because they look sturdy and I figured a magnet would be useful in holding books upright. I tested them out for two weeks in two different library sections: the 747's (large, art/design type books) and in the youth 599's (books about animals, lots of small-spined yet surprisingly heavy books.) They worked great the first week and then when I checked them again in the second week, I noticed the magnet was still stuck to the shelf but the glue holding it to the bookend had started to give way and the bookend itself was slowly sliding to the right.I am giving it two stars instead of one though, because the bookend itself is heavy duty, I just think the glue used to affix the magnet should be stronger. I have relocated these to the circulation work room to see if they fare any better under those conditions where they are not constantly pushed on by book forces all the time.If you have light-duty in mind for these, you might be ok, but if you were hoping they are the answer to all your shelving problems, keep looking.

Perfect size and excellent magnetism for holding the hanging files in my file cabinet in place. No more files sliding to the back of the drawer when I close it.

I bought these bookends to place inside my file drawers to hold folders, since I don't use the hanging file folder system and my drawers don't have a built-in mechanism to do this. They work well for this purpose, which is great because I have tried many other options without much luck. They are large enough to hold a lot of folders without tipping back.

Great product. The large dimensions of these make sure that my oversized books are held up correctly, the heavy duty gauge of the steel make sure that the weight of my books do not bend them over, and the strength of the magnets assure that they hold to my metal bookshelves. A+.

Actual product is different. It is rectangular in shape instead of U Shape as shown in the picture . It is not officemate product . It doesn't seem to be magnetic.
