It's 9 inches wide which makes it quite HUGE which is great for visibility once your on the surface but, it's a HUGE appendage to have hanging on your BCD when it's not being used. No thanks.

This surface marker is the perfect size. I had a 7' marker for a while and it was just too unwieldy and when it developed a tear I just decided to replace it instead of patching. This is perfect for a DSMB, you can roll this up and fit it into a large pocket without a problem.I can fit this SMB and a spool into an XS Scuba Mesh Carry Pouch. When I was using the larger SMB I had to have another pocket for the spool which was a PITA. I pull this and the spool out together and I can deploy it extremely quickly.

Annoying when carrying. It doesn't clip tight like a few others. I have to carry this in a pocket and hope for it not to unfold during a dive.
