This practical tool keeps you from slicing your fingers. If you slice between the tines, you can make nice even slices. Raw tomatoes irritate my skin, so this really helps keep my skin off of the tomatoes.It’s great for slicing onions as well.

If you are like me, not particularly skilled in the kitchen, this tool will help you. I have always had trouble dicing onions and cutting slices of tomato. Both are round and difficult to hold in place at the same time you are trying to avoid slicing a finger off. That's where this tool becomes very handy. Easy to use and nice, even tomato slices and evenly sliced onions without risking your digits. A nice plastic case to keep the spikes from causing any damage when not in use. It is quite sturdy and well made.However, there is a limitation. In order to secure an onions securely, I pushed the prongs all the way through a medium sized onion. It held the onion securely but didn't allow enough room at the top to draw a chef's knife through. Instead, the prongs can be inserted in a depth of 1-1.5" but it does not completely hold the onion in place. The best way is to cut an onion in half and then use the tool. But if you cut an onion in half, then it goes bad faster. I cook for myself and don't need that much chopped onion. This causes the dichotomy of safety vs economics. I choose safety so I will be cutting my onions in half and using this tool.

This was a silly little gadget that I purchased on a whim. Turns out, it is quite handy! I've always had trouble getting my onions sliced to the size I want. I'm always a little nervous for my fingers when I get to the edges of the onion so those pieces are always just kind of oddly shaped. This device holds the onion perfectly steady. You can slice your onions nice and thin, or skip a tine or two and get thicker slices.This thing is super sharp so be careful. It comes with a nice little plastic cover so I can keep it in my drawer and not worry about stabbing myself when I'm rummaging around in there. Overall, I'm glad I got this. It's nice for when I don't want to drag my vegetable chopper out but still want uniform slices and all my fingers!

If you like gadgets, you'll probably like this slicer!First thing I found: don't insert it too deep! LOL - made for interesting starts trying to place the knife for the cuts! Seriously, the hardest part is keeping the knife straight as you cut - if you're particular.It did make quick work of the onion! It really shined on uniform slicing of small potatoes for the oven.It has a storage case & seems pretty well made.
