It absolutely does not detect the frequencies it claims to. Further more it isn’t reliable as a tool for tuning as it isn’t sensitive enough. You can hold a pitch, adjust the intonation and watch as the tuner doesn’t change at all. It is functionally useless as a tuner.

The specifications say the unit works down to C1 (2 ledger lines below the bass clef). The lowest I could get it to work was F1 or E1. The lower notes are important to me because my instrument often plays sharp down that low. The unit would be adequate if your instrument doesn't descend that far down the scale.

It won’t even turn on. I’ve tried new batteries than what it came with, but nope.. doesn’t work.

I give this tuner a two and a half star rating. I've had it for four months. I bought this for doing voice scales when I walk the dog. This is the only tuner I've ever seen that you could place on the speaker of a digital piano and it would not detect the note that you play through the speaker. It works just well enough that you keep trying to get it to function properly. Apparently it has a microprocessor because if you turn power off then back on, it will detect notes again (for a while). The volume control works fine. The tone generator works fine. The metronome works fine. I'll be going back to my [nearly] worn out MT9000.

This product is my first digital tuner. I mostly use the metronome. I like all the options with the metronome. I tried tuning a karimba with the tuner but got mixed results. I found the tone generator more useful. I use the kickstand on the back all the time. Haven't used the headphone jack yet. I'm happy with this purchase.
