This light meter is great. It is a good price for what you get. The VFL works fine reliably and the light level reading works accurately. The top cover is nice to ensure that I do not get dust in any of the ports and mess up my light readings.

Before I bought this I spent a long time comparing the various makes and models. This one seemed the best because it has a battery that is both rechargeable and replaceable, and it has a built-in dust cover that can't get lost, and a VFL. But since all these models are 1/25th the cost of a Fluke, I wasn't sure about accuracy, and assumed it would be good only for relative measurement. Then one day I worked next to a guy who had a Fluke SimpleFiber Pro, and he was shocked when I told him the price of mine, so I compared the measurement of a weak 1310 nm signal, which was the reason we were there. My unit measured -46.91 dbm and the Fluke saw -47.13 and -46.75 before and after my measurement. That's an error of 0.34% or 0.47% if you take the Fluke measurement as gospel. There was more deviation in the Fluke's reading from time to time, and my $50 unit was right in the middle of the two Fluke readings. Then I compared them on a good fiber where mine saw -8.03 dbm and the Fluke saw -7.79 dbm, which is still an error of only 3%, and which I suspect would vary by as much as that from time to time using either meter alone. It looks like I picked the right one!

Screen is easy to read, the red-light is an added bonus!The rubberized case is very durable and this Meter has already survived a few drops with no physical markings.
