I lost all my data, this is a piece of crap. I throw away the Box so I guess I'm just going to have to eat this one I've already ordered a different enclosure.

This drive works, that's about the last good thing I can say about it.Chipset is a JMicron JM551. Shows up in linux as: 152d:0561 JMicron Technology Corp. / JMicron USA Technology Corp. JMS551 - Sharkoon SATA QuickPort DuoThe JMicro UASP chip on this model is poorly implemented resulting in SMART diagnostic issues, freezing, and potential data loss due to the aforementioned poorly implemented UASP firmware. On linux you can set a hardware 'quirk' configuration file that disables the use of UASP on this drive. It will move data slower but should be stable. My advice? Stay away from Orico products (or any product) containing the JMicron chipset. JMicron has been notified about their poor firmware since 2011 with no change or response from the company.*For Orico, the use of the JMicron chipset has permanently hobbled an otherwise great product offering. As this is the third time (out of three...) I have bought an Orico product that has either failed prematurely or has not been able to meet the stated specs. I will not be purchasing any further products with your branding.

UPDATE: ORICO reached out quickly and offered both a full refund and product replacement with no strings attached. Defects sometimes happen and what matters is how a company handles such situations. I have added one star to my review (now 2 star total) to reflect my CS experience.Oof...not a great start. The cooling fan in the back began making noise on Day 10. I may have to replace the whole unit with another brand. This is not acceptable for a product I'm supposed to be trusting with my data.

Best price. Well built enclosure but few concerns that they might improve on.1. Cable provided was usb b to a; wich they could have had provide an adapter to usb c2. If u are going to setup the raid function out of the box i strongly suggest reading the manual religiously.3. Still have usb 3.0 connectivity; a usb 3.1 gen 1 or 2 wont hurt as a improvement.4. They could have installed two fans at the back or a bigger fan.5. They could have the sides or the top to be heatsink type designed for better heat dissipation

This storage device is awesome for anyone dealing with large amounts of data. I’m amazed by its 22TB capacity per disk, and when fully maxed out, it offers a whopping 44TB of space. Perfect for massive projects or storing high definition footage. The setup is a breeze with flexible RAID options like 0, 1, JBOD, and CLEAR modes, giving me exactly what I need for data security. The USB3.0 interface and 6Gbps SATA specs ensure quick transfers, and I’ve noticed a steady 235MB/s speed. Plus, the cooling system and safety lock keep everything secure and running smoothly. Definitely recommend!

I had a small mini PC lying around that was too slow to use with Windows but also too small to support internal drives, so I was looking for a use for it and I thought of building a NAS. I got the Orico raid enclosure to use for external 3.5 inch drivers I had and it works well for my purpose. I placed two 3.5 inch drives in the enclosure, and configured it as Raid 1. There are switches in the back of the enclosure that allow different configuration. I went with Raid 1 since I wanted maximum level of redundancy for the content. I decided to go with Open Media Vault NAS software and once installed on the PC, it was able to detect the drives as Raid 1 and quickly formatted and made them ready for use. I created a few shared folders and copied a large volume of files and the performance was fine - not super fast but very acceptable and adequate for a NAS. It is difficult for me to gauge where the performance could be improved, and if this enclosure is improving or decreasing the performance. My PC is fairly low performance (although the CPU usage does not exceed 26% during file copying/reading). And my drives are older NAS drives that are pretty low speed. I will be upgrading to faster, new drivers and will update my review if I see drastic performance improvement. Only negative to note about this enclosure is that the small fan inside it is pretty loud, so I may change that in the future.

I love to hoard data, whether it is old files, music, pictures, video, or movies. I cannot host all that on cloud platforms because the cost really adds up when you get to TB storage. I would rather pay an upfront cost for storage than have something that bills me monthly. This enclosure allows me to store large amounts of data in my WD HDD. Setup was super easy; I just plugged in my HDD, and the ORICO was able to recognize the drive without any issue. It has RAID mode, so all my data is super secure. Peace of mind, no worries about losing data.Transfer speeds are as stated. I am able to utilize files on the drive directly without much lag. The body of the enclosure feels good. It is aluminum material that is very sturdy while being sleek. I appreciate the neutral color because it blends flawlessly into my setup. Great home storage solution.

This is a great 2 bay raid enclosure that is attached locally. Frankly, if you understood that, you don't need any more description, andyou likely have a NAS anyway. I got this with a family member in mind. He is not technical, but has a lot of personal docs and pix. He was complaining about paying cloud storage fees but I know he doesn't really need a NAS. This is the best option for a middle of the road storage solution.
