This IcyDock helped make use of a large bay I had open in my mid tower. I filled with 4 x 4TB SSDs (kept 2 spaces available for future growth if needed.) A word of warning: be careful with the screws you use to install this. If they are slightly too long, the can dig into the casing of your SSD and prevent removal of the drive(s).

It does what they say it will do. It allows you to install 6 2.5" SSDs into a 5.25" slot if you have one of those slots. The drive bays are hot swappable and works. I've installed 5 SSDs into it and they work as expected. Probably not the fastest bay around but I haven't had any issues with the drives being recognized. It passes the serial numbers of each drive to the OS that you're using so if you're running something like TrueNAS or Openmediavault then then you will be fine configuring the drives anyway you want. I do wish the trays were metal and not plastic. I would screw the drives to the trays as the tooless option isn't all that secure. Not an issue as long as you don't pull the drive out of the bay.May purchase again in the future

Quality is alright for this product that is meant to provide easy access to replace drives. I can't say it's good enough for applications that require you to regularly remove drives. The parts are plastic, and the tolerances aren't good enough. One of my drives didn't fit in one hole, but could easily fit the other. But overall it works, it's affordable, it looks great and it saves a lot of space and maintenance time. The built-in fan helps with temps. It is not noisy, not not silent either. You can easily swap it with a Noctua one.

I istalled the swap cage to make my life easier but tis product quality is terrible. For some reason the plastic trays dont fit inside the cage. It actually scratched two of my hard disks since there are short metal thigs sticking out inside the cage. Plus the fan quality is bad. as it gives out a very annoying shine when its running.

Its in the title, It just works.i got this a few months ago, filled it with 6 2tb SSDs, hooked it all up to my sata ports, and it hasnt even stuttered since. i dont know how well its going to last, but it doesnt look like its going to break anytime soon.I can complain about stuff, but it does right what really matters to me. It was super easy to install, i filled it with drives before putting the bay in the pc, and hooked up all the connectors, if i remember correctly, the power sata cable can be difficult to plug in because the data sata can be in the way. Once its installed, it just works, 24/7 operation for months now.sure the quality is cheap plastic, the hinges can get stuck on pulling out a drive. the screw holes arent very well thought out. you can screw into a drive when mounting this to your 5.25 bay, it wont break the drive, just make it impossible to take the drive out normally, so be carefull about that, check where all your screws are going. But it just works.

I've used Icy Dock cages for regular HHD's for years. Loved them. Recently I've started switching over to all SSD drives, mounted in these Icy Dock cages. Love them! But, I had a problem. In the photo you can see where I have removed the old Icy Dock cage that had held 5 HHD drives in a vertical position and placed one of the new Icy Dock cages that holds 4 SSD drives in a horizontal position. Although everything works great, there is a large opening above the new Icy Dock cage. So, I went down to the local hardware store and purchased a sheet of tin that has thousands od little holes punched in it...and then painted black. Using some graph paper to make a template, I was able to fabricat a piece of the "screen" that would just fit into the opening. I then mounted a blue LED case fan on the back side of the screen. It provided a nice way to fill the "whole" and add a cooling fan at the same time! If you're reading this, Icy Dock, you might consider adding such a "Filling Screen" to your product line! I'm sure they would sell! I later bought an Icy Dock cage that held 6 SSD drives. Of course I had to faburacat a slightly smaller screen-filler. And, since the available space was smaller, I couldn't use N 80cm fan, so I used 2 60cm fans placed side by side. Works great....looks great!!!

Not much to say other than it fits in a 5.25 bay as advertised, and it works. The one hitch I ran into installing these: Be careful that the screws or tabs from rails that you mount the cage with are not too long. If your screws are too long, it can interfere with the sleds. I.E. I mounted it in a Rosewill 4U rack chassis (RSV-L4000 configuration). The tabs on the mounting rails that are designed to fit into the screw holes of a 5.25 device were a bit long...nothing 2 minutes and a file can't fix (I used my Dremel with a grind stone to shave off a few mm).It looks nice in my rig, and swapping drives is super easy. Drives can be mounted in the sleds with screws but I've opted not to do so since it's easy to pop different drives in and out of a sled this way (a pair of soft pegs in the back two bottom holes stabilizes the drive in the sled). The included sleds seem to be a durable plastic and unless you're REALLY ROUGH handling them, they should last for many years.I'm using it with high speed SATA3 SSD drives (Samsung, PNY), and a few older SATA2 WD blue platter drives. In my case the blue LEDs in the cage light up solid if there is a drive in the slot, and they blink when the drive is actually in use. I detect no performance/speed degradation through the connectors. Since my drives were formatted with AHCI support in mind, and the motherboard supports it...hot swapping non-system drives is flawless.I have the fans set to low (all SSD drives that don't need much power and run cool), and I haven't noticed any annoying noise from them. The fans that come with the drive do have socket plugs, so one could elect to disconnect them all-together if you'll need it in a fanless no-noise environment, and they should be easy to remove/replace if needed. For the price, and relatively low frequency that I'll be swapping drives, I see nothing wrong with this drive cage.
