All in all, better than other cutting board options as far as germs go, but I'm taking off one star because it DOES scratch and is expensive.

The only claim made by the company that I believe is inaccurate is, "Tough & Scratch-Proof". After the first use we did notice verry faint but visible scratch marks on the cutting board. Other than that issue, it's still better than the alternatives

I've had growing concerns about my wooden cutting board and so I decided to replace it with this very costly stainless steel board. (Not sure why it's so costly, but I imagine it's only because this is kind of a new, hot trend and the manufacturer has the opportunity to overcharge for a relatively simple-to-make item.) The thinking behind it makes sense, though. It's not likely to harbor bacteria like wood does nor release microplastics like nylon does. I am a little disappointed that it comes with two pages of maintenance tips. (Isn't this why I bought stainless steel -- for low maintenance?) I will update this review if it really is easier on my knives. (I don't see how it could be, but that's one of its selling points.) But for right now, I must warn the would-be buyer of this: the board is really heavy and its edges are really sharp. It would make a nasty dent in your flooring if it hit on the edge. I am quite sure it could cut off a toe or worse if it were dropped on a bare foot. To be frank, I am fearful of handling it if my hands are the least bit wet. By NO means should any children be using it. And it should be kept in a safe place, away from little hands. This is absolutely NOT a family-friendly kitchen tool.
