This padded telescope case easily fit my 48 7/8" long 10" dobsonian telescope. The carrying straps are long enough to lift onto my shoulder making it easy to carry. The straps are offset from center a little, making the balance very good when I load my telescope with the mirror at that end. If the strap handle were a little wider and more plush, it would be more comfortable on my shoulder but I rarely have to carry it very far to set it up.

Fits the Celestron 10” StarSense Dobsonian pretty well. Length is just right, diameter is maybe a bit large, but better than too small. I removed the base knobs and I also removed the red dot finder. It would fit because it’s on top but it would be easy to break off if you aren’t careful so I just removed it. I did leave the StarSense phone holder. Just keep the bag upright! Much better than packing it all into the original box. A little expensive for what it is, does have padding but it’s still a soft case.

The specs for the bag indicate that the Apertura AD10 OTA at 48.5” in length will not fit. The original box is just too bulky to travel with, so I needed an option that took up less space and took a chance on this bag. And…(drumroll)… it fits no problem. No problems closing the zipper. Does not feel like it is pouring undue stress on the bag. It just seems like a perfect fit. This is with everything still installed on the OTA— the eyepiece, findersxope, mounting knobs, and an added telrad finder w 4” tall base, and added strap-a-handles all easily fit in the bag.On one end, the zipper goes all the way to the bottom of the bag to make it easy to insert the OTA.My quibble with this padded case is that the placement of the strap handles are centered in the middle of the bag. The weight of the primary mirror on one end of the OTA throws off the balance of the unit when trying to carry it with the handles. It’s easier to either remove the OTA from the bag or use two people when moving the OTA around. As far as I could find, this is the only 10” padded bag available that will fit the AD10. Orion’s padded bag for 12” dobs is another option, but that seems like it would have a lot of extra material that serves no purpose. If you have the Apertura AD10, I would suggest this 10” bag. It actually does fit!Clear skies!

I first went with an unpadded duffel bag, but felt the scope wasn't getting enough protection. This case is just roomy enough; the 48" Apertura scope fits very comfortably in the bag. This should help reduce nicks, scratches and dings as I lug my set-up around. Thumbs up.

Perfect fit for my Skywatcher DT 10" reflector and adequately protects the scope while making easier to carry the scope from my house to the truck etc.

très bon sac pour le transport de mon Orion XT10. plus large que mon télescope, mais le protège bien. Un peu cher par contre, mais comme beaucoup de chose qui on attrait a l'astronomie....

The Orion bag is absolutely my most critical accessory for my Orion XT10i. Without it I could not carry the tube at more than a few meters. With the bag, I could comfortably transport the tube inside the padded bag for a few minutes, without any issues. Whatever others said, the bag fits perfectly well on the shoulder, it is just the right size for the tube, and the bag offers padded protection! With the bag I can carry the tube the 3min walk from my living room to a dark spot in the forest. No collimation issues! I wouldn't think of carrying the tube on a wheelbarrow unless it would be a short pavement walk (because it would affect collimation). I can also carry the tube with the finderscope attached and then I leave the tube inside the bag for an hour outdoors, to cool down, whilst it is also protected! I also installed some masterlock carry straps to help me handle the tube for the few seconds between the bag and inserting into the base. Because of the bag, I can adopt a grab and go attitude to this large scope.Strongly recommended!

The padded case is good as is, and certainly does what it is supposed to, but I also ended up ordering the Hibate Replacement Shoulder Strap Adjustable Luggage Bag - Black, Non-Slip Pad, and a Magna Cart Personal 150 lb Capacity Aluminum Folding Hand Truck (Black/Red). In an unanswered letter to Orion I made several suggestions for improvement. One would be to either make it with glow-in-the-dark material (granted, it is hard to miss the case in moon and starlight but at the very least GITD strips would help. The other way it could definitely be improved is the addition of gear pockets to hold eyepieces, tools, a LASER collimator, etc.

This case is perfect for my Orion Skyquest XT10. I would have given it 5 stars except for the placement of the carrying strap which is offset making it impossible to carry it straight. It is worth it for me just to add an additional strap.

Does its job on the XT10i. No idea what people expected...that this makes carrying a XT10i a piece of cake? As if some people do not know that big dobs have their disadvantages and then believe this will solve all transportation problems.
