I have struggled forever trying to learn guitar. I get frustrated with bar chords, because my fingers are so short. I recently have begun learning the ukulele and love it. I decided to get a half-sized guitar. Most may think of this as a kids' guitar, but let me tell you, the craftsmanship is wonderful. Easy to tune, but if you have bigger fingers, you might find the strings too close together...I don't. FINALLY, I can do basic chords and even bar chords without struggling as much. The guitar itself is beautiful with a shiny finish and lovely abalone accents. I was pleasantly surprised to learn it's a Washburn product. I am a novice, and for me, this is exactly what a short, small fingered person has been looking for.

Sounds great, my 6 year old sons guitar tutor suggested 1/2 or 3/4 size, pleased I went with 1/2 as still slightly too big but aesthetically I fell in love with this guitar, the pictures do not do it justice. A REAL guitar for my little man.

Bought this for our 2 year old daughter who frequently comes into my office and is fixated with my guitar rack and strums the guitars constantly. Like most I started my search looking for a toy guitar but was shocked at how awful the reviews were across the board. It seems like 90% of what is on the market breaks within a few days, is unplayable, doesn't stay in tune, or is non-functional..I found this guitar which had relatively high marks across the board and for a few dollars more I have a fully functional guitar that is not only beautiful, fun sized for my daughter and stays in tune without issue. In fact the sound is actually quite good and was somewhat dismayed that it equaled or rivaled the sound of some of my acoustics in the 500-1000 dollar range. My daughter loves to play and I appreciate having an extra around the house to pick up from time to time.

The guitar was shipped 3 boxes deep with plenty of packaging. It arrived in perfect condition. One thing I didn't read about it, was that this brand is under the ownership of Washburn which is a nice plus. I wasn't sure of the quality of the guitar, but I honestly think that for the size and price, it is pretty great. I didn't buy it for myself, but for my young son. I wanted to get a small guitar but couldn't bring myself to spend $30 on a toy guitar that wouldn't have any use as he grows up. I understand this one is going to end up getting mauled as he grows, but as long as he doesn't break the neck off I'm fine with it. For the price, this is a decent guitar. I see some reviews have been written by people who wanted to use this as a travel guitar, I personally don't think I could do it as the sound is definitely very tinny. If you are a seriously player and want a smaller guitar, the taylor "mini" series are pretty amazing...but obviously run a much steeper price. That being said, this is a fantastic young kid's guitar.

Holds tuning fairly well.Don't expect a great sound, but it's fine for a campfire sing a long or the like. Price is the biggest plus.

My seven year old son started taking guitar lessons from his Uncle Chris four weeks ago and I wanted to get an inexpensive but well built guitar that would withstand the beating a seven year old could dish out. Sound was secondary to the quality of the build in this case and I was very happy. The whole guitar feels solid and well made. The sound is tinny but that's to be expected for something so small. For my son it's a perfect size. He's a big 7 year old but still, his hands are small compared to a ten year old. I thought about getting a 3/4 size so he'd grow into it but when comparing the cost of the lessons and other things in life the extra hundred I spent on the guitar is nothing so I'd rather he gets something that fits him now. I am very happy with the purchase. It seems like the perfect guitar for our situation.

We purchased this guitar for our six year old grandson. While he does not know how to play (yet), he loves to "play" guitar with his Grandpa when he comes to visit. Of course, Grandpa's guitars are full-size, which is too large for a six year old to handle. When the guitar arrived we were thrilled with the quality. It is a very well made, beautiful guitar, and my husband says it is easy to tune and does a good job of staying tuned. Our grandson was absolutely thrilled with it, and kept carrying on how he could really learn to play with a guitar his size! Because it is a real guitar, and not a toy, it is still a bit difficult for little fingers to hold down the strings, but that should improve with practice and growth. We would definitely recommend this guitar. It is actually nicer than we expected for the price, and should give our grandson years of use. Also, it was packaged EXTREMELY well, and arrived in perfect condition.

Just arrived today. Fast, free, and perfect condition from Amazon. Although tiny, will work for a little while (not long) for my 8 year old son. He likes the color, look, and general feel. Easy to tune and hold. BUT, the sound is really lousy! I know it's small so it won't have a full sound, but man it is really annoying. Note: I'm not a guitar officiano, but I don't know if I can stomach the tinny sound much longer. I'm gonna try some new strings to see if that helps the 1/2 size guitar sound a little better. If so, I may upgrade my rating.

We are very pleased with the 1/2 size Schmidt guitar we purchased for our 4 1/2 yr old Grandson for Christmas. His father, an accomplished guitarist chose this model so he can begin teaching him the basics. The quality and sound seem to be excellent and I'm sure our Grandson will be thrilled to be playing "like Daddy"! Good value for the money!
