  • UPF 50 PROTECTION - Tailored with a UPF 50-rated fabric and wide brims, this durable hat blocks and shields your head from harmful UV rays for excellent protection against prolonged sun exposure
  • ADJUSTABLE CHIN CORD - This breathable hat incorporates a chin cord to keep your hat in place during windy days

I’ve been wanting this hat for a long time and finally bought one. This hat makes me look hot, or cool… either way, it’s a great hat. True to size (small is small)

This hat is crushable which is what I wanted r/t packing when traveling. Size is just about spot on and maybe just a hair smaller than other mediums I wear. A large would be too big even with the inserts available, so I’ll work on wearing the hat to stretch it out just a bit.

I don't know why the description says "women's" on it now, because it didn't used to, but I got this hat years ago and have taken it all over the place on various camping, hiking, and backpacking trips. It is brilliant at both sun and water protection and, while oilskin isn't the most breathable thing in the world, I took it to a humid forest in eastern Texas in the middle of the summer and it wasn't uncomfortable. I love that it has snaps on either side so you can keep either, both, or neither side of the brim out of the way. Plus having one end of the hat pinned up just makes it look cooler. the material is extremely sturdy and crushable, which makes it super easy to shove into a pack, and I haven't had any issues with deformation of the cap or rim from this at all. Overall an excellent hat that I would highly recommend to take anywhere.

Worth every penny! I just needed to find the correct color and size. I settled on the OD Green one in size M. My head is approximately 22-221/2”. I liked the Mustard/Curry yellow one but it’s wrong for my skin tone & Large is too big. Thank You Outback for offering such a high quality item on Amazon. It’s comfort and breathe ability make it the ideal and best sun/gardening hat I’ve had in years.

I have a fat 7 5/8th's head. I bought an XL that is supposed to fit a fat headed person with a 7 5/8 inch head, it does and perfectly. So just on that, I am happy. The thing is well coated to repel water, we shall see how that holds up. Bought for kayaking, general outdoor stuff, and something I would not cry over if I destroyed the thing doing those. So far, so good.Oh, and it seems to tolerate mild shaping without much effort. So that is a bonus. So yay, I got me a tolerable outdoor doing things hat that seems like its gonna work out. This is a surprising hard thing for me to find. So, yay.

This is my second review of this wonderful hat, and I have just a couple of great things I found that I want to share: This Outback Trading hat has a "Koala Pouch" on the inside of the hat. I found this very convenient to hide a copy of my fishing and boating (kayak) license in the pouch; just in case.Another feature that is common with quality hats like this is the hat's chin strap. The strap also hangs at the back end which is designed to rest at the back of your head, just below the occipital bone. This helps hold the hat to your head no matter what direction the wind is blowing.

They say you only get what you pay for and that is true of this hat. It is very well made and just shouts, quality. It's robust yet moulds perfectly to your head. It's water proof and it stays on well in windy conditions. I just love it.

I wasn't super enthused about the color, at first- but when you have a grape the size of mine, you take what you can find. The color has grown on me now that I've worn it, though. The fit- runs about accurate- so my 24.25" head is a bit of a squeeze into the hat, but not to an untoward degree. It will loosen with wear, and use of a hat jack. DON'T let this dissuade you- there's nothing wrong with the product, there's something wrong with my head! It's freakishly large! The hat arrives somewhat tacky- the oilskin treatment isn't fully absorbed into the material. A few minutes in a 150deg oven and it's completely dry on the surface. It has decent waterproof tendencies as delivered, for oilskin- that isa to say it has excellent waterproof qualities for a consumer good. A second coat of Duxbak or Sno-Seal applied and then 5 minutes in that 150deg oven will make it have amazing waterproof qualities. The hat is similar to other vendors' "Aussie" hats (like the Tilley, the DP Aussie, JHats' Aussie, et al), but with the addition of a fore-and-aft chin cord (locks under your chin and under the back of your head- the hat isn't going anywhere!)and snaps on BOTH sides of the brim (seriously, why would you only put a snap on the one side on anything other than an Australian Army slouch hat- and it better be a genuine Akubra!)Once you've got the oilskin treatment cooked in fully (via the oven, a hair dryer, or use), the material gets this wonderful "lived in" mottling to it, just like all oilskin does. Yet another reason to love the material!I'm not a fan of hat pins, especially those with the maker's mark on them- but the "Outback" pin actually looks quite sharp. Good thing, too- it's got a rather stout penetration of the material, so you're kinda stuck with it. It's so nice, though, that I wouldn't mind it on some of my other hats (and god have I got hats... I'm a bald guy, family history of skin cancer, and my best friend just got diagnosed with skin cancer.. I've bought 5 hats this month, since it's so hard to find ones that fit!).,Best of all, my price with shipment on this hat was less than the price of the hat alone at many vendors. Oh, and shipment was reasonable, too...Let's talk about shipment. I'll be honest, I got a little irate with them (MY fault, not theirs). Sent off a nastygram this morning (at 3 am... yeah, I'm a nightowl) after 3 business days of not seeing the hat indicate shipped. I received a reply at 805 their time (can't get much more prompt than replying first thing when you step in the door while coffee's still brewing!) stating the hat had already shipped, here's the tracking number, and oh yeah- it's being delivered today. Well, wow.... there goes all my bluster and preaching about taking forever to get my hat to me... very sorry, and thank you for the effort!Only one problem- and I certainly can't fault them as they're not Amazon so can't engage in the Prime program... they do take swapouts within 90 days for resizing, or refund. But you'd have to pay for the return shipment. I was concerned that the hat wouldn't fit, and then I'd be in another $20 for shipment of this hat back, and the new one back to me. In that case I'd have given the hat to my son and called it done. I can't fault them for this, can't expect them to eat half the price of the hat on return shipments. My only suggestion to improve the product lies directed toward Outback Trading Company: "Make these in XXL! Lots of gargantuan-gourded gents want this hat and can't wear it! It's the only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5!"
