The product does really help with shucking oysters safely...unfortunately the craftsmanship is very low quality. The piece is made from two pieces of wood, with poorly cut edges that are only glued together. The glue, however, is unable to withstand the force of holding an oyster. After only one use, the joint is gaping a lot (see photo). I expect the product will probably break after the second batch of oysters. So, great product for a single use, but don't expect it to last.
