I'm giving this five stars by default. I opened the package the quality seemed really good it's made out of metal. I however did not get to use it because I put it back in the box and set it by the door. We were having a fire that night and we burn cardboard so the kids thought that it was part of the recycling and threw it in the fire....

Functioned Okay, but took many, many pumps to drain 4 Quarts from my Boat. They should probably make a larger pump, and note how many strokes it will take to pump out 1 Quart.

If you have a boat and change your own oil. You need this in your toolbox. You can't do without it. Nice and easy to use.

Hooked it to the dipstick tube and it pumped all the oil right out of the crank case. There is no drain plug on a boat so this product was a life saver! It only took about 5 minutes to pump all the oil out too. Very happy with it.

Used it to suck up some water that had accumulated under the engine from a leaking hose and also to change the engine oil. Different viscosities and amounts, but this pump worked like a champ.

I had a hard time sucking warm 25W40 oil out of pan, when I discharged what I got the discharge tube kept falling off (friction fit) and the oil went every where. It may work better using a larger pick-up hose (used 1/4 in) and light oil. That would not help the discharge problem.

It's very difficult to suck the oil out through the dipstick using the smallest plastic tube that fits down inside the dipstick hole. So I added a short length of 5/8" heater hose and a female barbed hose adapter to make my own pump that connects to the screw adapter on the engine dipstick tube. This VERY greatly improved the ability to quickly and easily suck the oil from the crankcase and it only took about a minute to remove nearly 4 quarts of oil.

This is an inexpensive brass-bodies manual pump. I used this product to empty my Perkins 4.108 diesel's crankcase for an oil change. The ends of the pump's tube are capped with rubber, held on by friction. I positioned my hand to ensure that the end-cap remained in place during use. The pump took some strength to get going, and has a pretty strong suction recoil. Once I got it pumping, the action smoothed out. I emptied my engine's crank case in approximately ten - fifteen minutes. The extraction tubes that come with the pump might be a little short for your use. I easily replaced the tube with a longer one that I had on hand, removing the bottom end cap and inserting the new to.The pump did not include a hose for the output end of the pump. I used a length of clear tubing, which I heated with a heat-gun and stretched over the pump's output nipple.

The pump it self seems to be ok. The hoses however are to short to do an oil change. I had to go and buy another hose for it but since this is labels as an oil change pump I would assume that there would be enough hose to change the oil.
