I ordered these for snowboarding as they are advertised as such and included the word "Hip, Butt, and Taillbone Protection." The shorts have small, round pads over the hip bones and one on the tailbone. There are no pads on the butt. There are fairly useless pads that cover the front and rear of the thigh - at least these are useless for snowboarding. The pads themselves seem nice and are made from lots of small pads aligned together. My daughter has padded snowboard shorts and they are much thicker pads and cover 95% of the butt and tailbone, which not only offers more protection but also adds insulation to keep you warm while you are sitting on the snow. I have shown her shorts (black and pink) alongside these for comparison. These offer minimal hip and tailbone protection for snowboarding. For the price, you can find padded shorts more specialized for snowboarding. This design may work better for other sports.Because it is advertised for snowboarding and claims to protect areas that are not padded, I am giving this 3 stars. If you are looking for padded shorts for other sports where this might work better, these are nice quality and the price is not bad.

These padded compression shorts are great for basketball and flag football. When you pay sports for recreation, it’s a great idea to protect yourself as theres nothing worse than having to go to work sore from an impact. These shorts fit well and are a lot more breathable than traditional underwear. They are washer safe and easy to maintain.

These padded compression shorts offer great protection and comfort! The 3D EVA padding covers all the right spots — hips, tailbone, and thighs — without being bulky or restricting movement. Perfect for snowboarding and skating, especially for beginners who take a few extra falls. The fit is snug and supportive, and they hold up well through active use.

Use these as my son's upper pads in his football uniform. He is still young, being only 10, so he doesn't need super thick pads at the moment to protect him.

I ordered these padded shorts primarily for snowboarding, as the product description suggested they were suitable for that purpose. The shorts are well-constructed and feature quality materials, offering good protection for the tailbone area. However, I found that the rear padding coverage is limited to the upper tailbone and doesn't extend down the bottom the glutes, which is a critical area for protection during snowboarding falls. While these shorts might be adequate for activities like football, where tailbone protection is more central, they fall short for snowboarding needs. In summary, these shorts are of good quality and may serve well for certain sports, but they don't provide the necessary protection for snowboarding. Consider alternatives if you're looking for more comprehensive snowboarding coverage.

My 15 year old son joined the school baseball team this year so I thought I'd get him some padded compression shorts for sliding and such in addition to just having normal compression shorts. The material itself is comfortable and the quality of the stitching has held up well so far with use. The padding isn't too bulky and fits easily under his uniform. It is important to note the manufacturer's comment about their sizing running a bit small compared to other size guides. I also noticed that some of the pictures make the length of the legs on the shorts appear to come down a bit further than they actually do. Not a big deal, but something to be aware of if a longer leg is preferred. My son also mentioned that he wishes there was a front pocket in them to have the option of putting a cup in. That's probably the one downside in the way the product was designed from a protection standpoint. Otherwise we would have given 5 stars.
